For the Book List

Last Friday when we were at the bookstore I had a coupon I was determined to use but I had one of those moments where tons of books sounded good but which one to use my coupon on? You know how that is. Took me a while to find my book but I also added these books to my list for another time:

  • A Murder at Rosamund’s Gate by Susanna Calkins. A historical mystery set in London. Oh yes, this is definitely going on my list.
  • Wrecked by Charlotte Roche. According to the publisher, “There are things in this book that could even spark a new sexual revolution.” Hmm….
  • This Beautiful Life by Helen Schulman. I admit the title caught my attention but the story does sound good.
  • A Spear of Summer Grass by Deanna Raybourn. I’ve read several of her books in her mystery/romance series and didn’t realize she had a new book out. Love the cover of this book.
  • Dante’s Wood by Lynne Raimondo. Another for the mystery list.

If you’ve read any of these and recommend one let me know. I’ve really missed making book lists for my blog. I still keep reading lists in my journals but it’s nice to collect them all here.

Weekend Adventures

I have got to tell you a funny thing that happened to me the other day. So it’s late on Saturday and I’m browsing Amazon and I realize that there’s a new book in the Victoria Thompson Gaslight series and I’m like yes, I want it! I was all excited and wasn’t paying attention to the date of the release because at that point I realize my Kindle was almost out of power. Of course I couldn’t find the cord, I’m trying not to make too much noise because the house is all quiet now, and finally about a good 20 minutes later I finally realize the book isn’t even out yet!

Well, all I can say is I have pre-ordered my book and my Kindle is fully charged now. Ha.

We had a really great weekend and even though there were tons of fun events around town we tried to do some stuff around the house. I finally switched to Feedly. Thank you for the input you guys. I’m still getting used to is so please bear with me while I get all updated!

I worked on some art jouranling, which is so much fun. My craft table is a constant craft chaos so please excuse the mess. Here’s some of what I worked on:

And, we did go to the bookstore of course. I used my coupon for Midwinter Blood by Mons Kallentoft. You know how much I enjoy those Scandinavian crime novels. I also took note of some other books that sounded really good (had a hard time choosing a book and I almost left without one!) but I’ll tell you about those books in another post.

Now I’m off to enjoy a few more weekend hours before the work week starts again. What did you do this weekend?

New Month, New Plans

I mentioned in my last post that I’ve been busy bookbinding for some upcoming shows and unfortunately one of those has fallen through for me and now I’m not sure if I’ll be able to participate in the big show because it falls very close to our vacation.

If I didn’t work full-time this wouldn’t be an issue but I’m just concerned that so close to our trip I’d be struggling with getting everything in order (home and work) and being in a show. A craft show is a lot of fun but it is so much work. I still have time to think about applying for the big show but for now I guess it’s time to do some thinking about what to do with my bookbinding.

One good way to look at all of this is that now I have more free time for reading and catching up with my blog reading. I’m so behind! Also, I need to find a new blog reader service as Google reader is going away. Any good suggestions?

So, what am I reading? The Unseen by Katherine Webb. When I first started reading this book I thought it was so similar to The Dark Lantern by Gerri Brightwell. The beginning had me thinking it was the same book. Unfortunately I started the Brightwell book several months ago and couldn’t get into it but The Unseen has really captured my attention so I’m sticking with it.

In the meantime, I’m so ready for the weekend. I have a B&N coupon which will come in handy when we stop in for our date night this weekend and other than that, I guess I have quite some free time this weekend so I’m excited about the possibilities.

Wishing you all a great weekend!
