Last Friday when we were at the bookstore I had a coupon I was determined to use but I had one of those moments where tons of books sounded good but which one to use my coupon on? You know how that is. Took me a while to find my book but I also added these books to my list for another time:
- A Murder at Rosamund’s Gate by Susanna Calkins. A historical mystery set in London. Oh yes, this is definitely going on my list.
- Wrecked by Charlotte Roche. According to the publisher, “There are things in this book that could even spark a new sexual revolution.†Hmm….
- This Beautiful Life by Helen Schulman. I admit the title caught my attention but the story does sound good.
- A Spear of Summer Grass by Deanna Raybourn. I’ve read several of her books in her mystery/romance series and didn’t realize she had a new book out. Love the cover of this book.
- Dante’s Wood by Lynne Raimondo. Another for the mystery list.
If you’ve read any of these and recommend one let me know. I’ve really missed making book lists for my blog. I still keep reading lists in my journals but it’s nice to collect them all here.

Our book club read This Beautiful Life and…I don’t know what to say. The topic is relevant and prompted me to have a conversation with my kids about sexting. But by the end, I just wanted to burn the book. The characters were horrid and left me feeling dirty and slimy. Maybe that is a sign of a good book, but we all were offended by it. The narration of the audio was good though! Haha
I don’t usually read mysteries but A Murder at Rosamund’s Gate appeals to me. “”Historical, London” — grabber words. 🙂
Sandy – Oh see, now I think I have to read it! haha… I love it when books prompt those kind of conversations you know. Sometimes books we don’t like much in our book group are the ones that spark the best discussions.
Bookfool, aka Nancy – That’s why I liked it too 🙂
