Literary Personality

I found this quiz on Patricia’s blog and thought I’d try it out too. Turns out I scored as Poetry.

“Ever since you started talking, people have been mispronouncing your name.”

There’s more to the results but that was the first line and it’s so funny and so true.

I remember the first day of school when the teacher would take attendance. I always knew she’d gotten to my name when there was a long pause. And, this still happens. When I have to put my name on a waitlist at a restaurant, meet someone new, give my name at the Starbucks counter for my drink order, etc. I’m not whining it’s just something that really does happen to me all the time.

Anyway, in book news I started Death of an Englishman by Magdalen Nabb which is one of the books of my From The Stacks reading challenge. This mystery introduces Marshal Salvatore Guarnaccia, a Sicilian stationed in Florence.

I typically don’t read two mysteries at once for fear I’ll start mixing up the crimes or something but right now I’ve in the middle of three. All quite different though so I don’t think I’ll be mixing up any of the clues. I hope.

Whodunits

I think Danielle and I have been on the same wavelength. She recently posted a wonderful list of mysteries she’s bought and I’m also on another mystery kick.

I finished Paragon Walk, the third in the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series by Anne Perry, and I’m not sure I’ll continue with this series. I like the setting but I still haven’t warmed up to the main characters. Any thoughts on this from some of its fans?

I’m half way through The Sunday Philosophy Club by Alexander McCall Smith and I am not liking it much. Which is disappointing as I really enjoy the Mma Ramotswe series. And, why did he have to name one of the main characters Grace? He already has a memorable Grace in the Mma Ramotswe series?

I did start Wednesday’s Child by Peter Robinson and so far it’s great. Let’s hope it continues that way.

So to continue on my mystery kick, today I bought two new books: The Old Fox Deceiv’d by Martha Grimes because I really liked the first Richard Jury book so I want to see what happens next. And, I bought What Angels Fear by C.S. Harris because I do love historical mysteries.

And, off-topic but I wanted to send a big congratulations to my dear friend Christine who got married this weekend! She had a beautiful ceremony and it was wonderful to share in her happiness.

Reading Frenzy

In the last two weeks I’ve finished five books. I don’t think I’m reading any faster, and granted the books haven’t been lengthy or difficult, but I guess I’ve found more time for reading lately.

I’m taking a little break from my crafty stuff. I love paper, playing with colors, creating and all that good stuff but every so often I like to take a step away from it. Recharge the creative juices you know.

Anyway, here’s what I’ve read:
The Man With a Load of Mischief by Martha Grimes
Ella in Bloom by Shelby Hearon
How Elizabeth Barrett Browning Saved My Life by Mameve Medwed
Like the Red Panda by Andrea Seigel
Spilling Clarence by Anne Ursu

All links go to my mini reviews. Spoiler free so you can read them if you are interested in any of these books. Now I’m off to finish up another novel.
