Return to the Library

Finally, I’ve gone back to the library after my self-imposed ban at the start of the Summer. I love the library, don’t get me wrong, but I really wanted to start whittling away at the stacks of ARCs and TBR books. If you saw the stacks you probably would think I didn’t make that much of a dent but I can squeeze in a few more books now so that’s a good sign.

Anyway, since I wanted to find the book for my next mystery book group meeting I decided to see if the library and had it, and they did but I couldn’t leave with just one book, right? Here’s my little stack (and my mug) waiting for me to dig in this weekend.

librarybooks

  • Lush Life by Richard Price. This is the October selection for my mystery group.
  • A Deadly Paradise by Grace Brophy. I read the first entry in her Commissario Cenni series, which I really liked, and this is the second one. I can’t wait to travel back to Umbria to see what Cenni and his team will be up against this time.
  • Unseen by Mari Jungstedt. I’m always up to try a new Scandinavian author and this one is by a Swedish author.

I’m hoping I can start one this weekend although how much reading I get done will depend on when our family arrives.

Anyway, what books are you reading this weekend? Any new mysteries?

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and more book talk soon.

Crafty Adventures

I think I mentioned recently that I’ve been working on some journaling tags. Here’s what I’m talking about:

tags

Just a lot of messy painting (my favorite kind) and then with my rubber stamps, funky yarns and good old pen & ink I plan to turn them into this:

tagsdone

The key is that each tag will have a journaling prompt. I’ll tell you why I’m making these later but let me just say they are so fun to make.

In other crafty adventures, I’ve succumbed and started a Facebook Fan Page for Bookgirl’s Studio. I figured that might be an easy way for people to keep up with what’s going on in the Studio. I’ll always mention sales, new products, etc. here as well but if you are on Facebook and want to be my fan, I’d greatly appreciate it!

And, speaking of Bookgirl’s Studio, I’m having an End of Summer Sale this weekend on some of my beaded journals. You can already check them out here. I’m just trying to make room for some new stuff.

More bookish stuff tomorrow.

Awards, Giveaway & Mystery Night

Oh goodness, there’s so much stuff going on and I’m trying to work on some bookbinding projects and get ready for family who will be visiting in the next few days so this post is a bit of everything.

First, BBAW is going on and I cannot tell you how much fun I’ve had reading everyone’s posts on this event. You guys are funny, sweet, interesting and just great peeps to know (or get to know as I’m finding a lot of new to me book bloggers). I wish I had an eloquent post about BBAW but I’m just going to say ditto to what Dorothy W. wrote here. Isn’t that wonderful? So, virtual cupcakes for everyone and continue the celebration!

Speaking of celebrating the wonderful group over at FSB Associates is having a drawing for a Kindle2! No one enter as I want to win this – haha… You can try your luck here.

And, now I’m on a hunt for some books for my upcoming book group meetings. I hadn’t been to my mystery book group in a couple of months but tonight we met to discuss The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (almost everyone loved it). I don’t think I ever really talked about that one but it’s probably up there as one of my favorite mystery books of the year. In the coming months we’ll be reading Lush Life, Spies of Warsaw and L.A. Outlaws. I think a couple these aren’t traditional mysteries but should be interesting. I’m particularly curious about Lush Life. Have you read any of these? What did you think?
