Oh goodness, there’s so much stuff going on and I’m trying to work on some bookbinding projects and get ready for family who will be visiting in the next few days so this post is a bit of everything.
First, BBAW is going on and I cannot tell you how much fun I’ve had reading everyone’s posts on this event. You guys are funny, sweet, interesting and just great peeps to know (or get to know as I’m finding a lot of new to me book bloggers). I wish I had an eloquent post about BBAW but I’m just going to say ditto to what Dorothy W. wrote here. Isn’t that wonderful? So, virtual cupcakes for everyone and continue the celebration!
Speaking of celebrating the wonderful group over at FSB Associates is having a drawing for a Kindle2! No one enter as I want to win this – haha… You can try your luck here.
And, now I’m on a hunt for some books for my upcoming book group meetings. I hadn’t been to my mystery book group in a couple of months but tonight we met to discuss The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (almost everyone loved it). I don’t think I ever really talked about that one but it’s probably up there as one of my favorite mystery books of the year. In the coming months we’ll be reading Lush Life, Spies of Warsaw and L.A. Outlaws. I think a couple these aren’t traditional mysteries but should be interesting. I’m particularly curious about Lush Life. Have you read any of these? What did you think?
I’m still trying to catch up on all the BBAW activties! 😛 I’ve fun visiting and reading new blogs. It’s nice getting to know everyone’s through the interview swaps too!
I’ve not read any of the books you listed, though I’ve The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in my pile. So many books, so little time! *sigh*
I sure have spent much time reading this week so far. So much goings on with BBAW. It’s been fun reading all the interviews today.
Didn’t I tell you, you will like The Girl with the Dragon TAtoo!!!! 🙂
Now where is the review?
Did u get the chance to get to the 2nd installment? it is good too!! 🙂 🙂
Have fun!
Kindle is not open internationally – so u won’t have me competing **sigh** 🙂
I enjoyed Spies of Warsaw greatly, as well as Lush Life. I read Lush Life before blogging, so I have no reviews on it, but it is very gritty and real. I listened to it on audio, by the way, and was very well done!
I went to bed last night exhausted from all of the post reading (how pathetic does that sound?). My life will never be the same. My reader is overflowing. My obsessive need to comment on everything is going to have to be controlled, or my kids won’t eat.
I have a Kindle2, and truly love it! It has not replaced my hard books, but is wonderful for travel, or when you need to just stick it in your purse for an emergency or impulsive purchase!
Melody – The interviews have been my favorite part. Just when you think you know someone they come out with some other cool tidbit about themselves! And, yes, so many books! 🙂
booklogged – I hardly had time to read any books yesterday as I was reading blogs. Still behind but it’s fun 🙂
Veens – You did! 🙂 It was great and well the review may get written up or not. It’s been a while now and I hate to write reviews so long after the fact as I start forgetting details! haha… I’m hoping to read the second installment soon. My husband & I are planning to read it together so should be fun!
Sandy – Oh yay, so glad to hear that. I was not quite sure at first about either of those book. My reader got a bit bigger yesterday too – sigh! See, that’s why I want the Kindle, for when we go to Germany. Carting books gets heavy! 🙂
Sorry Iliana, I already entered for the Kindle even though I already have one so I don’t have to share with my husband. Should I email them and ask they remove my name? 😉
I’ve heard so many good things about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I really need to hit my library up for it while I’m thinking about it!
I’m winning the Kindle…don’t bother to enter…LOL
I’m glad your book group went well and that every one enjoyed the book (i have to read that one).
Stefanie – Would you mind? 😉 hee,hee
Andi – You gotta read it. Very good, gritty and just interesting.
diane – Ha,ha.. Alright, let’s see who’s going to get it 🙂 I do highly recommend Girl w/Dragoon Tattoo.
Wait until you read ‘The Girl Who Played with Fire’. It’s even better than the first book. The new one is due out here next month and I’m just hoping I’m top of the reservation list.
Table Talk – I really need to get that soon! My husband said he’d wait for me to get it so we can start reading it (he’s got his own copy in German) but I don’t know how much longer he’ll wait for me! haha…
I didn’t participate in this year’s BBAW, I am having a hard enough time keeping up with all the posts about it – but having great fun doing so, and discovering even more books and bloggers in the process.
Thanks for the Kindle drawing link – I don’t think I would buy one but it would be nice to win one!
Lesley – I know what you mean. I did want to but I’m so busy with bookbinding and some other personal stuff (family coming in town, etc.) so I just couldn’t do it this year. But, I’ve had so much fun seeing posts about the event. It’s awesome. Good luck with the Kindle drawing!
Many thanks for linking to my post! I don’t really want a Kindle, so I won’t be entering the contest, just as you asked 🙂
I have Lush Life–it looks good, but I haven’t read it yet!
I didn’t participate in any of the BBAW events, either. No time!! Maybe next year. I did, however, enter to win the Kindle. Not sure why. My hubby already has one…
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is one of my favorite books this year, too. Once I got past the introductory chapters, I was hooked. My husband thought it was excellent, too, but gave up on the second in the series. Said it was too convoluted. I’ll be anxious to get your opinion on this. If I struggled with the first few chapters of TGWTDT, I wonder if I’ll be able to stick it out with the second…
