Good Intentions

I keep thinking I’ll blog tomorrow, no, I’ll blog on the weekend, and the days just keep passing by. I have had a lot of good intentions to come here and tell you about new books I’ve checked out of the library, about book finds at the bookstore and all that but somehow I end up not hitting publish on the blog.

I think it just becomes harder to get back online after a long break. I’m not quite ready to give up on my blog though so my postings may still be a bit sporadic but I’m hoping to get my blogging mojo back one of these days.

In the meantime what can I tell you? I’ve been resting when not working. I am totally into my restorative yoga classes. I think there was a time I felt a slight sense of them not being enough because I wasn’t doing much. Hello, that’s the point. Learning to relax.

Also, as my mom gets older I realize she needs more of my time. So I’ve been watching shows with her, going out with her and trying to juggle that with my often demanding job, regular chores, and of course spending time with my husband.

With regards to my reading this year has just been so odd. I’m not ready to do a end of year wrap up just yet but already I know this will be one of the years with the least amount of books read. I’ve also had a lot of DNFs.

So while I don’t do New Year’s resolutions this year I’m sort of drawn to the idea of planning. Setting good intentions which will hopefully translate to lots of exciting good reads, reconnecting with friends, finding my way into the studio and the big one, re-learning time management. Big dreams but why not right?

Thank you dear bookish friends for not giving up on me.

Still Here

My husband asked me the other day if there was a problem with my blog because he hadn’t seen my updates in his feed reader. It’s been a while since I posted hasn’t it? Well, I don’t know what to tell you but it’s just been the usual stuff… too much work, family visits, etc.

There have been a lot of good things in between, like a visit to Boerne to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, the EAST Studio tour, and bookbinding classes, but it’s been a bit challenging to find time for blogging. Perhaps I’ve just needed a break.

I did feel quite energized this past weekend when I went to San Antonio and met up with some crafty ladies at Stamp Antonio. I participated in the art journal class and bookbinding class. Had so much fun. Look at these two books I made.

Both of these are quite similar to my beaded journal books with regards to the stitching but I still had a lot of fun learning new ways of using those sewing techniques and best of all just hanging around with some very creative ladies.

So that’s kind of what’s been going on with me. What about you? Hopefully lots of good things are going on with each of you!

Happy Halloween

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

Song of the Witches by William Shakespeare

Happy Halloween everyone! I’ve got lots of candy and am ready to see some trick-or-treaters. Last year we had quite a bunch show up at our house.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to my R.I.P. read but I’m actually reading another book that I think would fit, The Cradle In the Grave by Sophie Hannah. It hasn’t been as suspenseful as I was hoping for but I do like that I’m not sure which character I believe. I like it when one minute you think one is the bad guy and the next you are certain it’s someone else.

Anyway, stay tuned because next up I’ve got some booklists. I was at the bookstore this weekend and I have added some new books to my radar.
