Paper Addiction

I meant to post yesterday because I was all excited about a new find at the bookstore but my Senseo coffee maker decided to stop working (I think I had it for 10 years!) and I spent a good bit of time searching for a new coffee maker. I really liked my Senseo but it is hard to find the coffee pods so I finally relented and went with a Keurig. Good thing we use a Senseo when we are in Germany so I’ll have to take my leftover coffee pods on our next trip.

paperstackAnyway now to the bookstore find. Guess what I found on Friday? More paper goodness! The Paper Stack is a 190 page bookazine from the publisher of PaperCrafter Magazine and it’s full of designer papers.

There is a lot of variety of prints with the only downside that all the paper is double-sided and wouldn’t you know it that some of my favorites are on one piece. I’ll have to make a tough choice when I finally pick one to use. I like that most of the designs have small prints which lend themselves better for the journals I make.

sheetsI’m tempted to subscribe to this one but as it’s from the U.K. it’s a bit pricey. And, it’s not really like I need more paper. Have I shown you my studio closet? Here’s a peek. I just can’t help it…  I love pretty papers. These papers hanging in my closet are large sheets that I don’t want to keep rolled up. Of course I also have storage boxes filled with paper.

You know where I’d love to go one day? To the Hollander’s shop. Talk about a paper paradise!

Anyway, that’s my weekend adventure. Hope you all are having a great week!

I’m Listening

fatalerrorI haven’t had much luck with audiobooks before and I thought it was possibly because either I didn’t like the narration, or if I was driving and listening then I was just too distracted to pay attention, but this week I decided to give  audiobooks another try.

During one of the book exchanges at my reading group I got Fatal Error by J.A. Jance and I figured it might be a good book to try. So I saved the file and loaded it on my iPhone and I listened to it while on the treadmill at the gym the other day.

I typically listen to latin music like merengue or other fast paced tunes so I’ll be motivated to work out, so I was curious how I was going to do with this and it was ok. My attention wandered a bit but I think this was probably a good choice to try.

For those of you who do like to listen to audiobooks, does it matter what kind of book or what you are doing? Did your attention wander a bit at first too and then you got used to audiobooks? I’ll keep you posted on my progress. So far I have probably tried about 3-4 audiobooks and have yet to finish one so we’ll see how I do with this one.

Reading Nook

I thought for sure we were going to wake up to another big ice day and I was all ready for it. I was planning which books I was going to read and all that good stuff but no, no major ice issues and it was business as usual. I guess that’s ok as I’d rather save vacation days for real vacation but it was kind of nice to dream about an extra day for reading.

That made me think of these beautiful cozy reading nooks. I think one of my favorites is this attic renovation. I love the big window and the light color paint. Which one is your favorite?

readingchairI finally bought a reading chair last year so I was able to turn a part of my studio/library into a reading nook. I still need to add a lamp and maybe a little, bitty table would be nice so I could put a cup of coffee/tea on it.

What I really need to work on though is that when I’m deep into bookbinding my poor chair will have papers, rulers, etc. stacked on top and rather than organize I just move to another part of the house to read.

Anyway, what about you, do you have a reading nook or what’s your favorite place to read?
