Is This Still On?

I keep thinking of checking in to tell you about books I’ve read, bought, etc. but life just seems to be flying by and the longer I keep away from the blog the harder it is to come back because I feel a bit overwhelmed by where to start. Anyway, I hope you’ve all been doing great and forgive me for the extended silence.

What’s been keeping me from the blog? Work has been a bit busy and changes are happening so more than likely I’ll be looking for a new job in the next few months. I have been trying to focus on my health a bit more after a doctor visit so more time at the gym and walking outdoors – which actually has led to me enjoying audiobooks a bit more! Now if I could just find the time to do yoga again.

When not reading I’ve been spending more time with my mom, in our garden and of course crafting. My Etsy shop is not closed but my focus isn’t on it at the moment. Right now when I craft I just make stuff for me and that makes me happy.

printingLook at what I’m into lately – monoprinting! I got a gelli plate and have been busy getting paint everywhere. I tell you, one of these days I will take a real printmaking class. This is just too much fun.

I celebrated a birthday recently and my dear husband got me some craft supplies. Lots of stuff he said he didn’t know what it was for but figured I would and he was right. What a good husband. So more crafting adventures to come.

Anyway, that’s a quick recap of life at Casa Bookgirl. My posting will more than likely be a bit spotty in the next couple of months as we have vacation coming up, family visiting, etc. but I will try to pop in. I actually have a new stack of books I need to tell you about so hopefully I can get another post done soon.

Anyway, I hope all is well with you all and hope you’ve been reading lots of great books!

A Bit Busy

Hey Friends, I didn’t mean to disappear from the blog or blogland but I’ve just been busy with work and some other projects. You know what’s funny? So my last post I was all about how I had to take some time off to focus on my mystery book for book group right? Well, I was a whole week off! My book group meets next week. Good thing too as I still haven’t finished the book. It’s really good though so I’m enjoying it very much.

I should have tried to finish it this week because I don’t know that I’ll do a lot of reading this weekend because one of my dear friends is coming to town – yay! I can’t wait to spend time catching up with her as it’s been months since we’ve seen each other. We’re supposed to have beautiful weather this weekend too so I think we’ll be going on some outdoor adventures.

Anyway, sorry if I haven’t been around much but I’ll try catch up soon. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and let me know what kind of fun stuff you are up to this weekend!

It’s All About the Mystery

You guys know I love a good mystery but I typically don’t read several at once. I usually like to have a mix of books going on but somehow I’ve ended up with four mysteries on my nightstand.

Last week I started Natural Causes by James Oswald which is the first in the Inspector McLean series. I’m very close to finishing this and have really enjoyed it. I think Inspector McLean is one character I will have to follow to see what he’s up to next.

I’m still listening to The Dying Hours by Mark Billingham. Unfortunately I think this mystery was a bit more complex than the first audio I listened to so I feel like I’ve missed a lot more and it hasn’t been as enjoyable. I think I’m about half way through this one though and who knows maybe I’ll end up really liking by the time I’m done with the audio.

Murder On Murray Hill by Victoria Thompson. I’ve been a big fan of this series as I love the setting and really like the main characters. This is the latest book, just came out on Tuesday, and I promptly had to get it and start it.

The Strange Fate of Kitty Easton by Elizabeth Speller. Ok, so technically I have not started this book but I need to move this one up to the top because it’s my reading group book and we meet next Tuesday. Yikes. I am very excited about this one though because I read her first book a couple of years ago and thought it was a great read.

So needless to say you guys, I’m taking a couple of days off from the blog to focus on reading so I can be ready for book group. Hope you are all reading some great books and more book talk soon!
