I still need to tell you about the three books I’ve recently finished, but I may save that for my February recap. I can’t believe it’s almost time for that. In the meantime, these are the books I’ve been dipping into lately.
The Seven Sisters by Margaret Drabble
The Yacoubian Building by Alaa Al Aswany
Mortal Causes by Ian Rankin
A lot of good stuff there.
Finally, I have a book to show off. To see what was the first bookbinding project I ever made, check out my Star Book. Hope you enjoy that.

The star book is beautiful – and how wonderful that it has such extra-special meaning for you. 🙂
I loved your book; it’s beautiful. I am looking forward to more art in your bookart section.
Stunning star book, Bookgirl. Very elegant. What do the words say?
That’s so cool! I was always making books when I was little by stapling paper or punching holes, lacing string through and tying them. This brings me back. Except yours is much, much prettier.
I’d love to hear what you think about Yacoubian – I liked it, and have recommended it for our school’s 11/12 grade readers. It took me a little time to figure out that this was written in the present, but the fact that it was makes it that much better a read for American’s today.
Lesley – Thank you! I do get a bit protective over that book too and don’t let just anyone touch it. ha,ha.
Isabel – Thanks girl. I need to find more time to produce!
Booklogged – Maybe one of these days I’ll share the poem 🙂
Nik – Oh I used to make books like that too. I guess those were my real first bookbinding attempts.heh.
Lazygal – I hadn’t paid much attention to the time frame until I got to a part in the novel where it’s clear it’s in present day. And, funny enough, I did notice that. I’ll post more on this as I get closer to the end.
That book is so awesome! I would be tempted to take up this hobby, but I have SO many unfinished projects. I like Ian Rankin.
Your star book is beautiful! Your creative talents never cease to amaze me. I doubt my first bookbinding project would have turned out so well.
Nancy – Oh you don’t want to see all the unfinished stuff I have. ha,ha. I love the Rebus series. Each one keeps getting better.
Stefanie – Thank you bunches 🙂
Wow that book is beautiful! You really are talented!
I remember seeing that book in person and it is stunning. You are truly one talented girl! Looking forward to your bookart section expanding and seeing more of your range of creative talents!
That is an amazing book. How fun!
Oh my goodness, Illiana, the star book is absolutely AMAZING! You are so talented. So glad it’s proving to be a lucky book, too! I love the three books you’ve picked to read – I am especially interested in hearing about “The Yacoubian Building”.
Oops, I forgot to sign in – the previous comment is from me, Lotus. 🙂
Your book is lovely! I hope you’ll post photos of other projects soon–I’d love to see them.
Thank you everyone for all your sweet comments. I still have more to show but I need to find some time to take pictures of them 🙂
Lotus – Even though I’ve only read half of the Yacoubian Building I would already recommend it.
I read The Seven Sisters last year, I think, or the year before. Enjoyable, but not my favorite book ever.
Wow, that’s beautiful!!
Melissa – That’s pretty much my thoughts on it too. I’m at the point where the point of view has changed and that almost makes it seem like a different story. Let’s see how the end works out.
Nancy – Thank you!
