It’s time to recap what I’ve read this month. Two books were actually carry-overs from March but I count them in April as that’s when I finished reading them. Here’s a look at what I read:
The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu (my review)
The Dancing Girls of Lahore by Louise Brown
Consequences of Sin by Clare Langley-Hawthorne (my review)
Storm Front by Jim Butcher (my review)
The Anodyne Necklace by Martha Grimes
Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin (my review)
Astrid & Veronika by Linda Olsson (my review)
I didn’t quite meet my personal challenge to read a book of poetry in honor of National Poetry Month but I did find myself dipping into Loose Women by Sandra Cisneros, Music Like Dirt by Frank Bidart and Good Poems a lot.
I’m off to finish my book for book group!
The Dancing Girls of Lahore sounds interesting!
BlueRectangle Books
I say, you have had a pretty good month of reading there! I also didn’t get to read as much poetry as I would have liked this month….
See you tonight!
Heather – Dancing Girls was very good but not an easy read… sad subject matter.
Christine – Never enough time huh 🙂 See you in a while girl!
What a great month of books! Congrats! I’m putting Astrid & Veronika on my list…thanks for the review
always amazed at your productivity!
I also didn’t finish my poetry book, but the fact that I actually read some is pretty good for me! 🙂 Did you like The Dancing Girls of Lahore?
Gentle Reader – Oh I’m glad to hear that! I do hope you like it.
LK – Thank you 🙂
Danielle – I say that counts! I did appreciate Dancing Girls of Lahore (didn’t have time to write a review) but it was a difficult book because of the subject matter. It hard to read as I just felt so sad and powerless about the situation. Oh and I promise to let you know about Suite Francaise. That was totally different than what I expected but I didn’t find it hard to get into at all. Which is something I had been dreading as well.
Ditto to LK. I’m fascinated by your proliferation. I finished 5 and it’s a record for me.
Matt – 5 books is very good! 🙂
