I know I had said no more but seriously there’s no way I can resist a Summer Mystery Reading Challenge. You know how much I love mysteries. Thanks to Literary Feline for pointing this one out. The challenge is to read six mystery novels by new-to-you authors and it starts June 1 and goes on through August 30.
The best part is that you don’t have to list the six books in advance. Honestly, I think that’s what trips me up on a lot of my challenges. I get so excited about putting together a list but I can very easily fall out of love with it. It’s not that I don’t want to read the books the urgency just doesn’t seem to be there and so I procrastinate. So I’ll put up my little button on the sidebar over the weekend but I’ll just list the books as I finish them.
And, just in time for the challenge I finally got my copy of Mystery Scene so I’m sure I’ll find some mystery books to check out. I finally subscribed to the magazine and was getting a bit worried when I saw the new issue at the bookstore but I still hadn’t received mine. Anyway, it’s here now and I can’t wait to read it. So, I’m going to grab a glass of milk, get comfy and start enjoying the weekend. Hope you do too!
I might take up this challenge since there is not advanced list. I’ve never read much in this genre. I’ll have to stick a post-it to remind myself of the next bookstore scour.
I just signed up for several challenges myself, after avoiding them for several months. I’m glad I’m not the only one who sometimes falls out of love with their book selections, heh. Good luck with your challenges!
I probably shouldn’t but I plan to join this one too. 🙂
Ooh, that’s right up your alley! Good luck!
have fun
Matt – That would be great!
Lesley – Oh I need to go check out which ones you are doing. Yep, I get so excited with the books I choose and then some other new book will take my interest away.
Tanabata – Yay! Do you know which books you’ll read yet or will you add them as you go along?
Andi – Thanks. I’m excited about this one. It may just be the only challenge I’ll ever finish 😉
Isabel – Thanks girl. How is your challenge going? I need to talk with you about that. I’ll call you.
I think the no list idea was what tipped me over the edge to decide to participate in the challenge. You explained why perfectly. 🙂 I look forward to seeing what you chose as you go! I do hope you enjoy Mystery Scene! And thanks for the link.
That’s sounds like a great challenge girl! I think I like to join you on the mystery summer reading challenge! I have more time during the summer months and this would give me a chance to get caught up on my own personal challenge of reading two books a month.
I saw this and am tempted…but. I am always so excited by these challenges, but then I get easily distracted! Last summer I read mysteries for a summer reading challenge and really enjoyed some good mysteries. I looke forward to seeing which books you choose!
This one is really tempting. I may have to look into this further, but I really must get through the current stack!
Literary Feline – I think this will be a fun challenge. I may put a post on some potential books to look into but that’s it 🙂
Shadan – Oh you should do it girl! I bet you can find a lot of good books to read.
Danielle – I know! I just thought waht the heck. What’s one more challenge that I may not complete – ha,ha…
Jenclair – C’mon join in, it’ll be fun. I know, I’m being a bad influence!
