Whirlwind

Did we really have a weekend? I don’t remember one. I ran around with my cousins from shop to shop. The only moment that saved my sanity was that they both wanted to go to Barnes & Noble so we camped out there for a couple of hours on Saturday.

I bought a little pop-out map of Chicago and looked through some guidebooks. I have a long list of places I want to visit and my husband just laughs. He thinks I’m planning more of a month-long vacation rather than just the several days we have. Well, at least I’m confident we won’t be spending hours just thinking about “what can we do?” because I have plenty of ideas.

In book news, I know this is old news but did you hear that Oprah chose three of William Faulkner’s book for her summer book group? Not only that but currently the boxed set is at number two on the Amazon list? Wow. Another confessional from this BookGirl – I’ve never read any Faulkner. And, no, I don’t know how I made it through college without reading any of his works.

So is anyone going to read Faulkner this summer? Do you have a favorite novel?

Also, don’t forget, Tuesday the Orange Prize is awarded. Any bets or ideas on who the winner will be? I know I would love it if a certain biker chick won.

Now to catch up on all of the reading I missed this weekend.
