Believe it or not, this post isn’t about a book find but about a tool. I’ve been looking for a long ruler at Michaels and Hobby Lobby, one long enough to use for when I have to cut bookboard. The bookboard I use comes in size of 26 x 38 inches. As most of the books I make are small, it was a pain to cut the boards into such small sizes.
So needless to say when my husband found a 58 inch ruler for me at Home Depot I jumped for joy! I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a Home Depot find. Ha. So I know this is not the most exciting of bookbinding updates but that’s what’s been happening at the Studio. Actually, now that I know I’ll be selling my journals at the E.A.S.T. Austin Studio tour I’m trying to come up with another journal style to add to my inventory. I’m thinking of a coptic bound book and something a bit larger, like maybe the size of a large moleskine notebook. Let me know what you’d like to see if you were at a art/craft fair as I need some ideas.
We had a very good weekend and spent time with friends, trying out a restaurant and drinks, hanging out at Borders and discovering a new favorite drink (if you haven’t tried the iced marble mocha go check it out!) and indulging in naps. Love this kind of weekend.
I did finish Intuition so I’ll have more to say on that soon but I really, really liked it. I can’t believe it but lately I just feel like reading one book at a time and not doing my usual 4-5 book juggling thing. Now I have to go find a new book to start tonight. What about you, start or finish any books this weekend?
Yay about finding the ruler that you want! 🙂
I don’t think I’ve ever tried iced marble mocha before. I’ll make sure to give this a try the next time I visit the cafe.
I didn’t get much reading done at all this weekend, but I did have a nice time overall so I guess it’s okay 🙂 Also, I quite miss reading only one book at a time sometimes.
Sounds like you had a lovely weekend. I didn’t get much reading in at all because I was too busy working on school. Down to the final crucnh of the quarter.
That’s good news about the ruler. Your journals are always so lovely. It sounds like you had a perfect weekend. I was very busy with household chores and getting my son ready to return to school today. I am looking forward to next weekend as I have very little planned (for now) and hope to get lots of reading done!
I write about folks whose tools are a part of their daily life, so no need for you to apologize for this post!
Great on the ruler!
Best wishes on your Studio Tour debut. Are you going to do the tour at your home or at an exhibition space.
I finished The Man who Ate His Boot.
I need to blog about 5 books.
I’m so happy you found this ruler. I know how important getting the right tools can be. I will keep that in mind for future ruler needs. LOL
Good thing you found your ruler! I hope you sell a lot of journals on the E.A.S.T… and i havenot done any reading **sigh**
FINALLY finished Water for Elephants and Whose Body. Now just need to blog about them!
I think it’s great that you found that ruler. Anything that makes your crafting fun even more enjoyable is great. I’m getting ready to start Mockinjay. It’s taunting me, but I must finish a book for a blog tour first. Thankfully my husband is nice enough to let me read it before him. 🙂
sounds like you had a nice weekend and the iced marble mocha sounds yum 🙂 I finished up Skellig and am trying to finish up the Life O’Reilly this weekend to wrap up the month with.
