Have you guys seen the latest Weekly Geeks theme? Oh it’s fun. Taking cropped images of book covers, readers are asked to guess which books they are. Check out Dewey’s post to find out how you can play.
I wanted to join in on the fun and so I’ve selected six books which I’ve enjoyed a lot. Leave me a comment guessing the titles and whoever gets them all right, will be entered in a little drawing for a book. I have an extra copy of Occupational Hazards by Jonathan Segura (which has been getting a lot of rave reviews) so I’d love to pass that on to one of you guys. I’ll announce the winner at the end of the week.
Need a little help guessing these books? A hint, all were written by women.

so pathetic! I thought I would no more. I KNOW i know 5!
I recognise the two Jessica got, and I think I see Hearts and Minds and Maisie Dobbs there too. 🙂
I love your collage, Iliana!
I’m only able to recognise two out of the six covers. 😉
I’ve just read The Handmaid’s Tale, so that one was easy 😀 But I don’t recognize any of the others.
The second one is Affinity. The last once looks really familiar but I can’t place it.
You guys are getting them 🙂
Hey Girl, Nice challenge! I know #5! It’s:
4.
5. Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear.
6.
Hope you’re feeling all better.
I didn’t recognize any but the two everyone else got. I do like your collage, though. I’d like to try that myself.
Love the collage! These were the only ones I recognized:
1. ?
2. ?
3. ?
4. Hearts and Minds
5. Maisie Dobbs
6. What Angels Fear
1 – The Handmaid’s Tale
2 – Affinity (Sarah Waters)
3 – The House on Mango Street
4 – Hearts and Minds
5 – Maisie Dobbs
6 – What Angels Fear
What can I say. I work in a bookstore! 🙂
By the way, don’t enter me in the contest. I just had fun trying to guess! 🙂
I only got The Handmaid’s Tale. I haven’t heard of the other books, but, now, maybe I’ll check them out.
All I knew was that number 1 is The Handmaid’s Tale (such a distinctive cover!). I was going to guess that The House on Mango Street was Like Water For Chocolate; at least I got the hispanic aspect. I do love The House on Mango Street. I’ll never forget the story about the little girl whose teacher accuses her of owning some ratty, forgotten sweater. Heartbreaking!
From left to right:
Row 1: Handmaid Tale, Affinity(??) House on Mango Street
Row 2: Harts and Minds, Maisie Dobb, ???
Oh no, look at Les showing off 🙂
Alright you guys, I think what I’ll do is put everyone’s name in the hat and draw a winner – how’s that?
By the way Bellezza I almost chose the cover of Like Water for Chocolate 🙂
I only recognized the Maisie Dobbs cover. I need to read more! Or work at a bookstore – oh, would I love that?!
What fun–I love this idea. I actually own all these books and have read half of them. The other three are waiting for me…
The only ones I know for sure are The Handmaid’s Tale and Hearts and Minds by Rosy Thornton! Thanks for this little challenge 🙂
