I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was a lot of fun as one of my best friends came to visit. We shared a lot of laughs, went out for too many breakfast tacos and coffee and enjoyed a bit of shopping.
I’m also very happy because I’ve recently started going back to yoga. As I had some health issues I was working through earlier in the year I had to stop my practice but I’m back and looking forward to deepening my practice. So exciting.
And, finally the bookish report. You didn’t think there was going to be a post without book talk right? I went to BookPeople to pick up the latest BookPage and can’t wait to read about all the new books out this month. As far as my reading goes, well not a lot got done this weekend but I am about halfway through The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson.
I loved the first two books in the Millennium trilogy but this one feels to me like it could have used a bit more editing. There are too many extra details that don’t really further the story along and I feel like there’s not enough of the girl in this book. Let’s see what happens as the book progresses.
Did you have a fun weekend too?
I started a yoga and meditation series at Move Studio last week and thought of you:-). I also won a week of unlimited drop in classes and sauna. Enjoy your yoga and your reading of course. Have a great week!
Kristy – How cool that you won some classes! Isn’t Move Studio awesome? I’m going to a fantastic studio here in Austin. Today I did a restorative class and I felt so blissed out afterwards 🙂 Enjoy your classes!
Glad to hear you had a wonderful weekend, Iliana!
I still haven’t read the Millennium trilogy, though I’ve heard lots of raving reviews on them and that I’ve those books in my pile. I suppose I’m waiting for the right mood to come along, hehe.
Mine was much too short as always…why do I never do everything I want to do?
That’s too bad the final Larsson isn’t quite living up to your expectations so far. I hope it gets better!
Hope your week is as good as your weekend. Glad u r feeling better for yoga once again; enjoy
I really need to get back into yoga. I will be interested to see your thought on Hornet once you finish it. It is so different from the first two books so that threw me through a loop because it wasn’t what I expected.
Melody – The first two books are really good! Oh and they are kind of chunksters so make sure you have some extra time because it’s hard to stop reading those 🙂
Nymeth – I know! Weekends should be three days minimum 🙂 I hope the book gets better too. It’s not bad just not like the others.
diane – Me too. I really missed yoga a lot and it’s so nice to be able to practice again.
Stephanie – I hope you can get back to yoga soon too. Right now I’m doing restorative and nidra but hope to get back to my regular hatha yoga soon. And, yes, this book seems different from the first two.
Interesting review of this book in the Boston Globe. http://www.boston.com/ae/books/articles/2010/06/06/the_girl_who_kicked_misogyny_and_hate/
So glad you had a nice weekend! Mine was pretty good especially after I turned in my final project for school!
Definitely a good weekend! Trips to both Half-Price and the library! You’ve made me miss yoga, though. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed your weekend and are able to begin resuming your normal activities again, the things that you enjoy and that make you happy!
Sounds like a nice weekend–it’s always good to see old friends! I’m really curious about the Larsson books, but I’ve not yet been able to squeeze the first one in…my list is too long at the moment of books I want to read!
As a fellow yoga fan (not good at it, but I love it), I applaud your decision! And as someone who has to make lots of decisions about which details to put in and leave out of her writing, I was interested in your detail-related comment.
janie – Thank you for the link! I read it and it definitely touches on some of the things that I think about this book.
Stefanie – Woo-hoo! So now to read at whim. Can’t wait to hear what you’ll be reading.
Tiffany – A weekend trip to HP & the library is a good one indeed! What did you get?
Kathleen – It is a nice feeling to feel like you are getting back on with life. Ah, good stuff 🙂 Hope you are feeling better after that bug you had. I say, treat yourself to some bookish goodies!
Danielle – It really is. Oh and I know the feeling. I keep seeing so many new books on just want to read those and of course all my shelf sitters. Sigh!
Shelley – I understand. I think sometimes it’s hard to decide just how much to add. I can’t imagine being like some bloggers who really spill all their life. I think that’s nice but I think I’d feel so out there it’d be strange.
