I did it – I finished the R.I.P. II Challenge! This weekend I finished reading Season of the Witch (click on title for my book report). It took me a bit to get into the book but in the end I did like it. It’s not exactly what I expected but it was quite interesting.
I wanted to read Dracula as an extra credit for the challenge but don’t think I’ll have time for it. We’ll see what this week brings. Either way, thank you Carl V. for encouraging all of us to once again delve into some scary reads.
Another book I’ve been meaning to mention is The Spanish Bow (link takes you to my review). I don’t know why I didn’t write about this one sooner but I guess it’s just one of those stories you just want to sit with long after turning that last page. A really great read.
So what else have I been up to this weekend? I had brunch with a friend at one of my favorite places, my husband and I watched several episodes of Bones, and I went to a favorite used bookstore in search of an Agatha Christie novel but they didn’t have it. I did find it on BookMooch though so I mooched it.
Congratulations on finishing the RIP Challenge! The Spanish Bow appeals to me quite a bit, especially the point you made about the significance of music in the main character’s life. I enjoyed reading your review very much.
Horray for you! I’m going to try real hard to squeeze in one more book so I finish the challenge.
Yippee! Another one bites the dust! 😀 I’m not sure I will make it…
Congrats on finishing the RIP challenge!
Congrats on finishing! I love Bones. 🙂 The Spanish Bow sounds so good as well!
Good for you! Doesn’t that feel good to have completed something?
I LOVE Bones!
I don’t think I will be able to finish The Mysteries of Udolpho by Wednesday. I have about 250 pages to go, and I will finish it, but it will be a few days late. I did at least read short stories each weekend. Congrats on getting all your books read. Isn’t it a nice feeling of accomplishment! I need to read The Spanish Bow, too. I keep hearing how good it is, but my library doesn’t have it.
Congrats on finishing the Challenge!
What’s new challenge will you do now?
Congrats on the challenge! Sounds like you had a book-filled weekend and some extra fun too!
Which Agatha Christie book are you after?
A new series of hardbacks is now available for $12 each… 🙂
Congrats! You can always save Dracula for next year 🙂
Congrats! I’m gonna try to finish the challenge today and tomorrow, but we’ll see how it goes. 🙂
Congratulations!
Dracula will be there for next year…something to look forward to!
Oooh, I’ve heard such good things about Cafe Brazil. The one time we had the opportunity to go we had to change our plans… Maybe on another trip to the metroplex…
I’m *this* close to being done with the RIP II challenge. I can’t believe it’s been so hard to finish one darn book! (My choice was House of Leaves, which has bored me to tears.)
Literary Feline – Thanks. I do hope you get to The Spanish Bow. It is really a great story.
aka Nik – You can do it!
Maggie – For a while I didn’t I would either!
Alisia – Thanks! 🙂
Eva – Isn’t the show great. We are only on Season 2 but are catching up as fast as we can 🙂
Nancy – Yes, especially considering how I keep joining challenges and then don’t finish them. ha,ha..
Danielle – I hope your library will stock it. I think you’d enjoy it because of the history as well. And, hey, I still think it counts even if you finish a bit later!
Isabel – Look at my sidebar… still more to go 🙂
Christine – It was good. I love it when there’s lots of bookish stuff going on.
Matt – I love those new editions. I have one but would love them all. I’m looking for Poirot’s Christmas. I haven’t heard if I can get it from BookMooch so I may have to go to another bookstore and look for it.
Stefanie – Too true!
Andi – You can do it!!
LK – Thank you. I know, I just feel a bit bad for poor Dracula who’s been sitting on my shelves for three years now I think.
Somer – You must try the pancrepes. Oh my… So delicious. Hope you’ll finish your challenge even if you got stuck with a boring book. I hate it when that happens.
Bones is one of my favorite shows! Waiting for Tuesday night to roll around is torture (except when it’s Thursday and Supernatural is on – then it’s heaven! 🙂
Congrats on finishing the challenge!! Certainly makes you feel good, huh?
Chelle – I’ve missed Supernatural all season. I do like it though.. I just need to remember it’s on! ha,ha…
Congrats on finishing!! I didn’t read all the books I wanted to, but I did finish enough for my peril and through in Fragile Things for extra credit! I have a copy of the Spanish Bow here. I really need to read it!!
Stephanie – Ooh once you read it you’ll have to let me know what you think! Congrats on finishing too!
