I had a good weekend catching up on some books and web reads. I finally got a chance to peek at the latest issue of Estella’s Revenge. If you haven’t checked it out yet please do so. Lots of great reviews and author interviews. I still have to finish reading it but I have already added a couple of books to my TBR list, especially Marie, Dancing.
I’ve also spent a bit of time over at Dogeared which I found via Eva’s blog. Isn’t that a great project?
And, guess what I pre-ordered Eclipse. I can’t believe I’d almost forgotten it was coming out this month. I’m so ready to see what happens next in this series.
Finally in reading news I finished The Book Thief. Wow, did that book make me cry. I finished it this morning and even though I’ve had a chance to read I somehow haven’t been able to pick up another book. I’ll post a bit more on it later but right now I just want to keep all thoughts of it to myself. I’m actually meeting with my book group on Tuesday to discuss this so I’m looking forward to hearing what the rest of the members thought of it.
I had a similar reaction to The Book Thief. I don’t remember a book every making me cry that much and I also found that it was hard to get going on another book after. And I didn’t want to talk so much about my thoughts and reactions to the books, but I did want to tell everyone – friends, family, random strangers on the street – that there was this book they just had to read.
My niece just told me about Eclipse! I can’t wait. Guess I will be at the Library sooner than I expected.
Yep, I cried through, oh, half of The Book Thief, I would imagine. Something like that. lol Glad you enjoyed this issue of Estella, AND, I got an Amazon e-mail this morning assuring me that my copy of Eclipse has now shipped! Yayyyyy! *waiting very impatiently*
Tell Julia, Kurt, and the others that I miss them!
Let me know whether the group thought it was more of an adult book or a young adult book.
Me too. Sobbed through that book. And loved it. I can’t wait to hear more of your thoughts on it!
So glad you enjoyed Estella!
I can’t wait to get my hands on Eclipsed!
Thanks for the link to Dogeared. Very cool. And I enjoyed this issue of Estella, too!
Wow — Michael brought me home a copy of The Book Thief so I can make an effort to finish it…..I would guess I am probably going to cry too!! I am looking forward to the discussion tomorrow (although not likely to finish it before then…!!)
I need to catch up on Estella’s Revenge…
Sparrow52 – Thank you for posting about your reading of The Book Thief! I’m glad to hear we had the same reaction with it.
Nancy – I’m so looking forward to Eclipse especially after The Book thief. I need some lighter fare 🙂
Andi – My copy shipped too! Yay. I don’t read the Harry Potter books but Eclipse is sort of my HP book. The anticipation!!
Isabel – You bet! I’ll let you know what the book group thinks.
Heather – Yep, the tears were just streaming down at the end. I know we’ll all be sharing thoughts on Eclipse.
Gentle Reader – glad you liked that. Isn’t it cool.
Christine – Yay. Maybe you can finish it. It’s surprising how fast it goes. I read about half of it on Saturday. Look forward to book group!
Book Thief made me cry too! Made me sob. I started well before the final pages and continued crying after I closed the book.
I’m with you (and all the others) on the Book Thief, Iliana. My mother and I used to rate books and movies according to how many kleenex they required. This one was about a 9 or 10 hankie book for me. But, despite its sadness, it also was so heart-warming and encouraging. I have bought several copies to send to friends and relatives. It’s funny that you mention Eclipse. I saw a friend of mine reading Twilight a few days ago and she kept saying that I have to read those books.
I love the Dogeared site – thanks for this great link!
Stefanie – Yep, that was me too. I would think about it later in the day and still cry.
Kelly – I agree there was something encouraging in the end. And, oh you must read the Twilight books. I don’t know what it is about them but they are totally addictive. Especially Twilight.
Tara – Glad you enjoyed it!
I keep telling people they need to set aside uninterrupted time for the last 100 pages of The Book Thief.
I have Twilight on my TBR, I need to move it up.
Lisa – I’m sure I’ll be singing its praises for a long time! Hope you do read Twilight. It’s so fun & good 🙂
