I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was very relaxing and that’s always a good thing. Plus, today I celebrated a birthday so I got some birthday goodies and a delicious cake my husband made. I feel like one of you may have shared this apple torte recipe but I can’t remember where I saw it. So if one of you recommended this, thank you!
As we didn’t feel like going to a restaurant or to any stores (we’re still trying to stay in as much as possible), we did decide to go for a drive around our neighborhood and even drove by our local B&N store. Still closed although you can order and do curbside pickup but that’s just not the same as browsing is it?
I do have a gift card and a birthday coupon from B&N so I may place an order soon. One thing I wish was that I could place an order for some magazines but I don’t think you can do that online. Maybe I’ll call the store and find out.
This weekend I also spent a bit of time on was making some cards for the Cards for Kindness project. You can send a minimum of 10 cards and these will be going out to hospitals, nursing homes and other care giving organizations. I love that.
I have so much paper that I was starting to get a bit overwhelmed with what to make but I pretty much worked off of three scrapbook paper pads. I used some bits of ribbon in some and stickers. My designs were super simple but I just hope they brighten someone’s day. Now I just need to put them in an envelope and send them out.
I was planning to start another crafty project this weekend but time flew by and now to prepare for a crazy, busy work day.
Again, hope you all had a great weekend and let me know what you were up to. I’m sorry if I haven’t answered some of the comments in some of my recent posts but will get caught up soon.
So have a great week and hey, at least it’s a shorter one!
Happy Belated B-day. The torte looks yummy.
Love the cards. Hope that your recipients love them also.
I got some magazines from my grocery store. I was thinking about doing what you suggested – calling the B&N fr magazines.
The magazines are still being printed, I imagine.
I’ll bet B&N would be happy to pull some magazines for you for curbside pickup. They probably want as many sales as possible and if you know what you want, it shouldn’t be a problem. That is, as long as they are still stocking them. It’s a time-consuming job to pull the old issues and replace them with the new, so they may not be doing that during COVID. Writing about this makes me miss working there!!
The Cards for Kindness project sounds like such a thoughtful thing to do.
Isn’t it crazy how quickly the time goes over a weekend, even during this pandemic?! I hope you have a good week and again, Happy Birthday! I love that your husband made you that cake. What a sweetheart!
Happy birthday, Iliana! That’s so sweet of your husband.
Love your cards! And such a meaningful project, too! I really miss visiting the bookstores; and our libraries remain closed until further notice despite we are gradually reopening.
Happy birthday! Sounds like a good day. Certainly a birthday with a difference!
Happy Birthday! I’m glad you had a nice weekend with a very special husband-baked cake! Love the cards!
Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a nice day despite the bookstores being close. Hope the year ahead brings you every good thing. 🙂
Happy belated birthday, Iliana! Yes, I bet B&N would pull magazines for you. And, no, shopping online is not the same as browsing at all. Have a good week!
Happy belated birthday!! I love that cake – never tried it here but I’m going to add it to my list to try.
And wow, those cards. Very pretty. I’m sure they will liven up anyone’s day. You’ve certainly been busy. Do you do videos of your process or work? 🙂
I echo the suggestion to call the store and ask for the magazines. Magazines have a notoriously low (as in, non-existent) profit margin so I’m sure the store would be especially glad to have some turn-over to show for their work of stocking them, at least! We’ve found that phone calls also make it easier for the people assembling the orders, as they can ensure they’re gathering the correct items as well. Everyone needs sales these days! And happy birthday…it should last longer than usual this year, shouldn’t it?! 🙂
Isabel – Thank you girl! I owe you an email and a care package. I’m so sorry as usual just behind.
Les In OR – It was really fun to make those cards. I finally sent them out and am tempted to make some more!
Melody – Thank you!. Our libraries are still closed although I think they are going to be doing curbside pick up soon. We’ll see how that goes.
Marg – I know, right? One to definitely write about in my journals.
Jen Mullen – Thank you. It was so nice of him and we had a good time watching some movies.
Lark – Thank you so much! I did make lots of wishes 🙂
Kay – Thank you! I miss in life shopping for everything. Not that I’m a shopaholic but certainly enjoyed my trips to the arts & craft stores and now I am pretty much relying online.
Athira – Thank you! It was sweet but not overly so and that made it perfect. I don’t make any videos but there have been times I’ve been tempted to start a youtube channel but I just don’t have time right now. Maybe one day! 🙂
Buriedinprint – I am totally in agreement of making the birthday fun last longer! I think we’ll all definitely be celebrating once we have a vaccine for this stupid COVID-19 until then we wait.
