I’ve got quite a few things going on this weekend but hopefully I’ll get to spend time with my books. I feel like I’m so behind on my reading, or maybe it’s just that I’ve got a couple of books going on that I’ve been reading for a while now.
I’d like to finish Madame and The Somnambulist. I’m close to the end of both books so hopefully I can tell you more about them soon.
The new books I’d like to start are Hearts and Minds by Rosy Thornton. So many of you bookish friends have already mentioned this one and it sounds really lovely. The other book I want to dive into is a YA novel about Leonardo Da Vinci, or rather his servant, Leonardo’s Shadow by Christopher Grey. Actually, I did dip into this one just a tiny bit and I can’t wait because I already like what I’ve read so far. Giacomo may just be a servant but he’s got other things planned for himself.
And, that’s not all. I want to do a bit of short story reading and check out Araby by James Joyce for A Curious Singularity and then spend some time with the latest Estella’s Revenge.
Hope everyone has a great start to their weekend and maybe I’ll catch up with you during the Sunday Salon.
Good luck! A book I’m reading, How to Read Literature Like a Professor, talks about “Araby” a lot. I probably should read it, but I know so much about it now, it seems pointless. Blasphemy, I know. 😉
Hope you manage to meet your weekend book goals!
Hey GIrl, I’m sorry I’ve not been around for a while, or emailed, I’ve been slack and I realise this! It’s great to see you’re still doing loads of reading, hopefully you can re-inspire me, I’ve been on the same book for 3 months now…and it’s such a good book! Anyway, other news is I’m back to blogging, I knew the break wouldn’t last forever it was just a matter of when and how I returned! The new blog is: http://moodyclaire.blogspot.com/ hopefully now I’m back to blogging I’ll remember to come visit you more often!!
That sounds like a good line-up for the weekend — enjoy!
Oh, you’ve hooked me with Leonardo’s Shadow- I definitely want to know more about Giacomo!
It’s my blog visiting I’m worried about. I don’t seem to have been getting anywhere lately. Where does the time go to?
I haven’t had a chance to read the new Estella yet. I hope to do that this weekend too. Enjoy your weekend reading!
I feel like I am moving very slowly with books right now, too. I’m not sure what my problem is. I think I’ve just got too many started and too many long ones going. I also just got a copy of Rosy Thornton’s book and can’t wait to start it. And I am looking forward to hearing about the Somnambulist!
I am way behind in my reading too. 🙁 I need to devote more time to reading, but everytime I try something else gets in the way. I’m beginning to suffer withdrawals.
Eva – Oh that’s funny. But, I’ve had that happen to me too. Sometimes (this is worse) after seeing a movie version – eep!
Mrs S – I hope so too!
Claire – You are back! I’ve missed you tons girl. Don’t worry we’ll re-inspire you to get back to reading. I’ll be “visiting” with you soon. So glad you are back!!
Dorothy W – I feel a bit bad because now that I know which books I want to start I kind of want to rush through the two others. So must take my time 🙂
jenclair – It’s really good! I’ve told myself that I need to finish at least one of my other books before I get into this one further.
Ann Darnton – I understand. I love visiting everyone too but then even when I get to visit on a regular basis I still feel as if I’m behind. How is that possible?!
tanabata – I already checked out one article of the new Estella – the one about associate’s programs and I’m seriously thinking of signing up with Powell’s books. Good stuff that Estella 🙂
Danielle – I hate that feeling too because then you are just anxious about starting new books right? Hope you get further into your reading this weekend too!
Literary Feline – I hear you. I’m not even working a full time job right now and still don’t have enough time for reading. Someone needs to invent a 48 hour day 🙂
I’m very curious about The Somnambulist – I look forward to your review!
We all seem prey to the same malady – lack of time-itis! I like your idea of a 48 hour day. We’d probably manage to fill that up in no time as well.
As for your reading – enjoy it! My vote it to start Hearts and Minds – it’s been my favorite read so far this year 🙂
Sounds like a great lineup! I’ve had my eye on Leonardo’s Shadow for a while. The college library has it, so I might just have to give it a go.
Hey Iliana! I’m behind my reading too, but well due to my “rest” days for the past few days, I’m glad to say I’ve managed to catch up with some of my reading. ;P I hope you’ve a great weekend.
Nymeth – It’s been a bit of a strange book. I did finish it so I will talk about it soon!
ravenous reader – You are so right. I’m sure we’d still be complaining about not finding the time to read all of our books 🙂
Andi – Leonardo’s Shadow has been a winner so far. I’m really liking it.
Melody – Yay, for catching up! I can’t wait to hear about the books you’ve been reading!
