I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I really enjoyed my time off from work and just being able to wake up and not have to rush to answer emails or calls was nice. Of course, I didn’t do as much as I originally planned to do but I enjoyed crafting, long naps, walks around the neighborhood and best of all, a trip to the bookstore!
Yes, we finally went to Barnes & Noble. I have called my local store a couple of times this summer to see if they are finally stocking some of my favorite magazines and they’ve finally started receiving them. It felt so nice to walk through the doors and how we’ve missed going.
We weren’t there for too long and really we were mainly in the magazine area. I noticed that they still had some editions from January/February. It’s like the bookstore was still a bit stuck in time, but there were some of my favorites.
Normally we’d go hang out in the cafe area with our stash of magazines and coffee but we don’t feel comfortable hanging out indoors for too long so we just got our magazines and a cookbook and went home to enjoy. We definitely splurged on the magazines but given that it’s been since February since we were last at the bookstore we thought this was well worth it.
I got Flow Magazine, Breathe Magazine and Bella Grace. I am set for some fantastic magazine reading for a while.
Anyway, let me know if you’ve been to your local bookstore and if you’ve picked up any goodies.
I have been told the the local Barnes and Noble stores are packed, so I am avoiding them. I look at the magazines at Publix, my local grocery store. I try to go to different ones; some stores have more magazine selections than others.
Congratulations and getting magazines to keep your creative juices flowing! It has been an extraordinarily long time for you and your husband to have been away from brick bookstore. 🙂
I was thrilled when our BN opened up again. its been a few months now but I still get an extra thrill every time I stop by (the latest being today). Temperatures have dropped about 25 degrees here and it feels like mid to late Autumn and a quick trip to the bookstore was a must!
I haven’t been to a bookstore in forever! And I miss going. Glad you had such a good weekend. 🙂
Isabel Altamirano – Oh I would totally avoid them too if they were packed. Ours was not. There were some people but everyone seemed to be practicing social distancing and everyone was masked. The grocery store I go to has magazines but it’s usually the typical ones. I really was missing my crafty ones!
Jen Mullen – It has been. We went a bit crazy spending money on magazines but thought it was a well-deserved treat 😉
Carl V. Anderson – That’s great you’ve been able to go in and support your local bookstore. Oh wow, I would love temps like that. Supposedly a cold front is coming but I’m always skeptical! haha.
Lark – I really miss our bookstore outings. I know we can buy books online and thank goodness for that but a visit to the bookstore or library just can’t be beat!
I haven’t been to a bookstore since the COVID-19 happened. Although businesses have resumed for a while now, nowadays my trips are mainly on groceries. I still buy books online, though, and I hope to visit the bookstore soon.
I miss my Barnes & Noble!! One of my fun jobs was working on the newstand, pulling old copies and putting out the new. I’m sure they aren’t focusing too much on that right now, if they don’t have a full staff of employees. It’s easy to get behind on restocking those shelves! I’m glad you had a fun outing.
