I told myself no new books until I clear off one of my current reads but I really want to try and get one book in for the Japanese Literature reading challenge. So in conjunction with First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros hosted by Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea, here’s a look at my new read:
“Once you finish your milk, please put the carton back int he box. Make sure you return it to the peace with your number on it and then get back to your desk. It looks like everyone is just about done. Since today is the last day of the school year, we will also be marking the end of “Milk Time.” Thanks to all of you for participating.”
What do you think? Does it sound like a cozy mystery, some strange dystopian fiction, what?
Well this is the intro to Confessions by Kanae Minato. According to the back cover:Â Narrated in alternating voices, with twists you’ll never see coming, Confessions explores the limits of punishment, despair and tragic love, culminating in a harrowing confrontation between teacher and student.
Let me know what you think and would love to hear about any new book you’ve started.
Yes, I had to look and see the cover, wondering if it was the book with chairs on the front. It was. I’m quite interested in hearing your experience with this one. I’ve been on the fence about picking it up. Good luck and let us know!
It sounds so cozy, with milk time and all, but I suspect there is a lot more to the story. Thanks for sharing…and here’s mine: “LILLIAN BOXFISH TAKES A WALKâ€
I’m not sure…. I’d have to read more to find out.
I hope you can stop by:

I went to Amazon to check out the cover. I read the blurb and it sounds far from cozy. I’m not sure it’s a book I’d read but I hope you enjoy it. Here’s the link for my intro and teaser for this week — rather grim, I’m afraid: http://wp.me/p4DMf0-1t1
Hmmm, just not sure from that intro – don’t think it’s for me. I appreciate you joining us and sharing this week Iliana.
I guess I’m joining the “not sure” crowd on this one. Now, I’ll check out the cover.
Hmm, sounds kind of ominous.
Enjoy Confessions, that intro does sound unnerving.
