I hope you all had a great weekend. I did a bit of this and that and finally feel like I’m getting caught up on things. I have a couple of quick reviews coming up and will also be telling you about a bunch of ARCs that came through while I was traveling but today I’m going to participate in First Chapter, First Paragraph, Tuesday Intros hosted by Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea and give you a glimpse at what I’m reading.
“Even now she can’t decide. She thinks about flipping a coin. Heads she goes, tails she stays. But isn’t indecisiveness an early sign of mental illness? Didn’t she cover a story about that a few years ago? Or is it that she’s conflicted? Conflicted is better than indecisive. Why is she thinking this way? A voice inside her head says, you know damn well why.â€
In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume
What do you think, are you intrigued and would you keep reading?
I loved Judy Blume’s book growing up and this one so far is very good. If you’ve read Judy Blume books which is your favorite? For me Are You There God, It’s Me, Margaret will always be a favorite.
I wanted to like this one but, I just couldn’t finish it for some reason. I hope you love it though, maybe, it was bad timing for me.
Having frequent bouts of indecision myself, I would keep reading. 🙂
The last Judy Blume I read was Summer Sisters and I was disappointed. Think I’ll wait and see what you think of this one…
I loved Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Is this a new Blume for grownups?
I enjoyed this book….and I love that excerpt. I like how her internal monologue shows her state of mind. Thanks for sharing…and here’s mine: “THE MELODY LINGERS ONâ€
I’m curious about what you’ll eventually think about this one. I’ve heard some frustration with it from others. I remember reading SUMMER SISTERS years ago, but remember exactly nothing about it as a read. And I did not read Judy Blume as a young one. So…we’ll see what you think. 🙂
Sounds like a good one. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week.
I’ve been wondering about this one! I like the opening. I am afraid I am often indecisive. I don’t want to think about what that says about me. Haha
I am curious about this one. Definitely keep reading, no need to flip a coin. Enjoy!
Diane – So far I am enjoying it but it is a bit of a chunkster!
jenclair – ha,ha… I know what you mean!
Joanne@Lakeside Musing – Aside from Wifey, which I read ages ago, I haven’t read any of her books for adults. I do like this so far.
Stefanie – I remember Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. I loved that one! This is for adults although one of the narrators is a teenager.
Laurel-Rain Snow – Glad to hear you liked the book!
Kay – I was such a fan of Judy Blume growing up. I think I read most of her books. I’m enjoying this one so far so I’ll keep you guys posted!
Stacey Schneller – It is so far. Thanks for visiting and hope you have a great week too!
Literary Feline – I had almost forgotten about the opening! And, don’t worry, we undecisives can unite 🙂
Heather Fineisen – I know right? I think I’m close to the middle.
I think I’d have to read a bit more to be sure. Hope you like it.
I’m definitely intrigued by that teaser! My eldest daughter read a few of her books and loved them! 🙂
I loved Judy Blume when I was young–I read loads of her books and like you I think my fave is Are You There God, but I also remember Deenie. She hods a fond spot in my reading memory! I would like to read this new book so I will be curious to see how you get on with it!
I started reading this one, but never finished. Hope it turns out to be a good read for you.
