I’m started a new book recently so I thought it would be a great time to post a First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros hosted by Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea.
“She came out of nowhere. I was driving back from the faculty Christmas party. I’d had a couple glasses of wine but I wasn’t drunk. Distracted, sure, what with Cressida dropping that bombshell and the scene with Ross, but not drunk… It was on that blind curve just before Orchard Drive. Everyone takes it too fast. I, of all people, should have known that too, but I was distracted an my vision had gone blurry for a moment.”
River Road by Carol Goodman
What do you think? Would you keep reading?
Carol Goodman has written seven other novels and a YA trilogy. I have read most of her standalone novels so I was very excited to pick this one up which is her latest book.
How about you, got a new book you’ve just started?
This is already on my list, so yes, I’d keep reading!
Iliana, I really enjoyed reading this one. I hope you like it as well.
Great opening… how could you not keep reading?!
This is intriguing! I’m not reading anything super exciting at the moment but plowing through my to-be-read pile before I browse any more. 😀
Yes, I’ve liked a couple of Goodman’s novels. 🙂
This one is definitely on my list…and that opener makes me want to go to Amazon and click right now!
Thanks for sharing and reminding me that I want this one.
Here’s mine: “FRICTIONâ€
I would definitely keep reading. I’ve heard such good things about this book. I haven’t read any of her other Carol Goodman books, but I really enjoyed the books I’ve read by her under the name Juliet Dark.
I’d keep reading… in fact I think I might just have to add this to my very very long TBR list 🙂
I like that opening a lot. What happened? Who came out of nowhere? I’d keep reading to answer those questions and to find out about the bombshell, too.
My Tuesday post features a mystery thriller: THE SHADOW CARTEL.
It’s been ages since I read The Lake of Dead Languages and I’d almost forgotten about this author. The opening sounds intriguing, but I’ll wait to hear your final thoughts. The reviews (on Goodreads) are all over the board.
