It’s almost the weekend and I’ve already got a long list of things I want to do. Silly me, I think I have more than just two days! So here are a few things I plan to accomplish:
- Finish reading The Confessions of Catherine de Medici by C.W. Gortner. I signed up for a book tour next week and just started this one yesterday. It’s really good and I actually stayed up late last night reading it. I was definitely in the mood for a good historical tale.
- Wrap up the Once Upon a Time Challenge. I did read my one book, The Penelopiad (which I loved by the way) but still need to write a post on that.
- Speaking of challenges, you guys saw that Stephanie is bringing back the Everything Austen challenge right? I can’t wait. I actually am trying to decide which Austen to read Mansfield Park, Sense and Sensibility or Pride and Prejudice. I get the feeling most of you will tell me P&P right?
- Go to Barnes & Noble for the classics sale. I noticed while I was at B&N this week that they had their B&N Classics editions on sale, buy 2 get the 3rd free but I didn’t get a chance to do any book shopping then so hopefully the sale is still on.
- There’s a new coffee house that opened near my house so I hope to stop in over the weekend and see what yummy stuff they have.
Ok, I think I need get started on my to do list now. What about you, what’s on your to do list?

Oh Iliana…did you have to tell me about the B&N sale? LOL
I loved Catherine de Medici.glad you found it compelling enough to stay up to read it.
I’m looking forward to the Austen challenge again. Maybe I can do better this time.
I’m getting ready to sign up for Everything Austen. Just have to think about what books to read. I think I’m going to do sequels and spin-offs, since I’m reading Austen herself for the Jane Austen Challenge.
Out of those 3 Austen books, I liked P&P the best. 🙂
Looks like you’ll have a busy weekend! I am taking my stepdaughter and her friend (who also happens to be my cousin) to the pool tonight because they are showing a movie. I hope to get a lot of reading done there! As for the rest of the weekend . . . who knows!
That Stephanie! Just when I thought I was getting caught up on my stuff, then she throws that challenge out there! Yes, I would say P&P, followed up shortly with the BBC production with Colin Firth. You WILL NOT REGRET IT.
Sounds like a fun weekend of reading. I wish I could spend more time on the weekend just chilling and reading good books.
Wisteria Leigh – Hee,hee… Just want to make sure I’m not the only one going over book budget 🙂 I loved your review of the Catherine book and I’m loving it. I really was in the mood for a story just like this one. I stayed up late again last night to squeeze in one more chapter!
Anna – See, I was thinking of no sequels/spin-offs this time around but there are a couple that I’ve seen that look cute. Looking forward to your lists!
Stephanie – Oh that should be fun! One of our markets does movie nights outside on Fridays and that’s pretty fun. Hope you get lots of reading done!
Sandy – I know, the nerve right?! I have watched the BBC Colin Firth movie. Oh my. Dreamy!! This challenge is just another good excuse to enjoy it 🙂
vivienne – I hope you manage to find time to get some extra reading done. Are you working on any scrapbooks lately?
Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I’m hoping to finally find some time to read, hopefully out by the pool!
Looks like a great to-do list to me. Much better than mine which includes “clean the bathroom.” Hmmphf!
Enjoy The Confessions of Catherine de Medici, it sounds good. Enjoy the Austen challenge, P&P is my fav. And thanks for the heads up on the B&N sale…i’ll have to check that out if I have time. Enjoy your weekend 🙂
Too much! But the highlight is my book club. We’re reading Northanger Abbey. Love it!
I love both P & P and S & S. The Colin Firth A & E production of P & P is definitely a perfect follow-up to the book and I love the movie version of Sense & Sensibility with Emma . . . uh, Emma . . . you know, the gal who used to date Hugh Laurie and married her co-star in S & S? Sigh. Thompson!!! Emma Thompson. And, speaking of Emmas, I just finished Jane Austen’s Emma. I’m not participating in the challenge but, darn. I’m about to watch Emma and I’m reading a Jane biography. Wish I’d know before I started.
Your weekend plan sounds wonderful. Have a great time!
I cannot think beyond dinner at the moment. I am craving Mexican food. Some sangria would be nice as well.
Other than that, I hope to get some reading and napping in. I need to go gather up my TBR stack…
Hi Iliana, thank u for the lovely comment on the blog 🙂
The baby is doing fine and I am slowly getting back to work 🙂
I have always wanted to read all the 3 of the Austen books u mention. I am hoping to read at least one this year 🙂

I’m glad that you loved The Penelopiad, too! I read it 3 or 4 years ago and thought it was great!
Kathleen – So what are you going to take with you to the pool? Have fun reading and relaxing 🙂
Andi – Well, chores are always on the to do list but I am lucky and can usually foist a lot of them off on my hubby 🙂
bookworm – The Catherine book is so good! I think you’d enjoy it. You like Philippa Gregory right? This somewhat reminds me of her historical books. You know what’s going to happen but you are still in total suspense to the end.
Tiffany – Have fun at bookclub! I bet that will be a great discussion. Have you seen the film version? I saw one earlier this year and it was really good. I’ll probably see it again for the challenge!
Bookfool, aka Nancy – Can you believe I’ve not seen the film version of S&S? I need to! I love Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson. Maybe this year I’ll add it to my challenge. That would be perfect! And, I still say you can join even if you read your books a bit earlier 🙂
jrav – Oh Sangria, so yummy. That is a perfect summer drink isn’t it? I tried taking a nap today but just couldn’t really fall asleep. It was nice to relax though. Have a great weekend!
Veens – Thank you for sharing pics of your babe. He’s so sweet. Glad to hear you are doing well and just take it easy!
Ann – Thank you!
jenclair – It was so wonderful. I laughed, was shocked, everything. That is why Atwood is one of my favorites!
It sounds like you’re going to have a busy weekend–I hope you get lots accomplished and find some good classics at B&N. I wonder if my local store is having the same sale? Better not find out as I am trying not to buy more books…. :)Have a great rest of the weekend.
Danielle – I bought three books! Did you go to your B&N to see if they had the sale? Hope you’ve been enjoying your week off from the blog. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been reading 🙂
