The end of the year is quickly approaching and all I want to do is hit “pause.” Is anyone with me on that?
It has been a super busy time at work for me and I’m tired and in need of sleep. I think back to when I was in my 20s and could easy go out clubbing with friends or stay up all night reading and be back at work like nothing. Where is that energy?
Anyway, despite the busyness of the the last couple of months, we’ve had some really fun times too. My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary earlier this month. I can’t believe it! Who would have thought that what started out as a random pen pal exchange would become a sweet friendship, turn into a long distance love affair and finally a marriage! We were very lucky indeed to find one another.
But how about you? I hope you are all doing well and reading a lot of great books. I have been reading although not as much as I would like but I’ve finished two books for Novellas in November. I read Still Born by Guadalupe Nettel and The Return of the Soldier by Rebecca West. I really enjoyed both of those reads.
One of my dear friends is visiting this weekend so I’m excited to see her so not sure how much time I’ll have for reading but I’m definitely looking forward to next week. With the Thanksgiving holiday that means a few days off from work and more time to enjoy some rest.
Again sorry for the sporadic posts around here lately but wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead and keep on reading good stuff!
Happy Anniversary to you and your husband, Iliana! Yes, time does fly. Glad you will get to spend some time with friends this weekend and hope you have a great visit. I shared on my blog earlier this week that we have moved back to the Austin area a few weeks ago. Mostly due to needing to be closer for my husband’s mother and stepdad. Kerrville was a little too far and they are getting much older. The move has been a bit complicated, but we’re fairly well settled in now – just in time to host the extended family for Thanksgiving and Christmas – ha! Anyway, enjoy your holiday week and enjoy your reading!
Congrats on reaching 22 years together. That’s so awesome! And I’m with you on wanting to hit that pause button. I’ve been running so tired I need a week of sleep…preferably near the beach. 😀 Enjoy your weekend.
I was just telling my husband that as much as I enjoy the holidays, it’s always such a hectic time of year. I’m already looking forward to the calm that comes in January…
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. Definitely something to feel good about/proud of! We just celebrated our 35th last week.
Enjoy your visit with your friend, and your time off from work!
Happy Anniversary! Our 38th is coming up next week. I’m with you on hitting a pause button… this is such a busy time of year. As much as I enjoy the holidays, I am looking forward to a quieter winter/spring in Florida. I’ve read a couple of novellas this month, so it looks like I’ve decided to participate in Novellas in November in spite of myself, lol. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Kay – Thank you! And, oh wow that’s big news. That’s really great though that you were able to move back to help out your husband’s parents and at least it’s a city you know and enjoy so hopefully it’ll be like you never left!
Lark – Thank you! I hear you on running tired and I think a beach vacation would be just the ticket to feeling better! 🙂
Lesley – So true right? The holidays can be so fun but so tiring too. I’m just looking forward to days off! Congratulations to you as well on the 35 years together!
Joann @ Gulfside Musing – An early congratulations to you on your anniversary! I love that you somehow joined the reading challenge too 🙂 Wishing you a great holiday as well and hopefully some quiet time in between too!
Happy Anniversary! I think it’s awesome how you and your husband found each other. 🙂
I am not sure I am ready for this year to be over either. It seems to have gone by faster than I expected. I hope you are able to some rest. If anyone deserves it, you do.
Have a great November.
