What a crazy, busy week but I’m excited the weekend is here. That means it’s getting closer to our vacation! In the meantime we’ll try to survive the Texas heat. I think this Saturday it’s supposed to cool down to 99 degrees. I think I need more Scandinavian fiction in my current reads to imagine cool days!
I actually did start a couple of new books this week even though I said I wanted to finish up some of my current reads but as much as I like my current reads, they are slow-moving. And, with me being so tired in the evenings I need some fiction that’s a bit more fast-paced. So I added two thrillers to my current reads.
Rage Against the Dying by Becky Masterman. From Publisher’s Weekly: Resist any temptation to bail after the creepy prologue—a sexual predator’s-eye-view of the woman he’s about to attack—because then you’ll miss one of the most memorable FBI agents since Clarice Starling as well as a killer debut thriller.
The 9th Girl by Tami Hoag. From the publisher’s blurb: Kovac had seen more dead bodies than he could count: Men, women, children; victims of shootings, stabbings, strangulations, beatings; fresh corpses and bodies that had been left for days in the trunks of cars in the dead of summer. But he had never seen anything quite like this . . .
I’ll keep you posted on how these go but so far both have started off with some thrilling introductions!
And, before I close this did you see the 50 Sci-fi/Fantasy Novels that everyone should read? I’ve read a few, very few, but I saw some on here that sounded really good and I’ll have to keep in mind for the Once Upon a Time Challenge. Anyway, check it out and tell me what you think.
Alright friends, have a wonderful weekend. My goal is to stay out of the heat as much as possible and read lots!
Cool down to 99? Holy cow! We are warming up to 80 today. Stay cool and have a good weekend of reading!
I liked The 9th Girl. It is the first I’ve read by Hoag, but it was full of suspense.
I can really feel the difference once it dips below 100! It goes from unbearably stifling to just oppressively stifling. 😛
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The 9th Girl as I really enjoy Hoag’s books! Have you read the other ones featuring Kovac as a main character? I have but it has been awhile so I might go back and reread a few of them before I go to this one. I hope you enjoy it!!!
Stefanie – I know, it’s bad isn’t it? We did get a tiny bit of rain so I’m happy about that. Now if only the temps would go down!
Jenclair – I really liked how it started. I didn’t want to put it down but I was at work so I guess I had to get back to work. ha.
Tiffany – So true isn’t it? I’m done with the 100s!
Samantha – I haven’t. I’ve only read some of her more typical romantic suspense books I guess. Those were good, entertaining, so I’m hoping this will be a good one too!
