This weekend I want to focus on two books, How to be An American Housewife and Manservant and Maidservant because I need to have them read by end of next week. The Housewife book is for a book blog tour and Manservant is for the Slaves discussion.
Hm, how funny that both titles seem to be about household duties and I admit I’m not very good when it comes to being a domestic goddess. I definitely put off household chores in favor of a bit more reading, a trip to the bookstore, daydreaming, anything.
Anyway, I did start the Housewife book and I’m enjoying the story. I would like to add a mystery book to my stack because I haven’t read a good satisfying mystery in a while and I get the feeling I may be dipping into a new book over the weekend as well.
I have a couple of books to pick up at the library. I would really like to clean up my craft table so that I can actually craft! And, of course there is yoga, date night at the bookstore and we may even be baking some bread. I think I’ve mentioned before that this is one of the things my husband misses the most from Germany, the bread. So I think he’s given up finding German bread so now he’s going to make it himself.
So that’s what I’ll be up this weekend. Do you have any big plans? Well, whatever your plans may be I hope your weekend is filled with a lot of laughter and fun.
Ooh, I ordered How to be An American Housewife yesterday and I can’t wait for it to arrive! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it!
Hope you have a great weekend ahead! The bread sounds great to me (I’m hungry now and there’s 2 more hours to go before our lunchtime)! ;P
Can’t wait to hear more about the German bread. I bet it will taste good. Enjoy your busy weekend.
I am glad I am not the only one who will come up with nearly any excuse to avoid household chores!
I will finish painting my lawn chair and try to finish Olive Kitteridge. I am slogging through it and think it might be too depressing to finish. And I hope to get to Borders to see the new e-readers up close and personal.
I think I might be coming over to your house for some bread! I wish 🙂 No big plans for me. I’ll be working on school most of the weekend. Hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy some reading time in the evenings. have a good weekend!
I am a pro at avoiding household chores. Not sure how on earth I ended up staying home with the kids!! It’s surely not what I’m meant to do.
There is nothing like homemade bread.
Both of those titles sound interesting. Hope you enjoy them!
I need to read Manservants and Maidservants as well–I’ve not made good progress–I’m too wrapped up in Tana French’s The Likeness. Have a nice weekend!
The books sound good! Will have to check them out. And I definitely want pics of the bread whenever that happens. 😀
My plans depend on the Tropical Storm Bonnie.
I have an invitation to attend an opening at the New Orleans Musuem of Art. This is the description:
Ancestors and Descendants: Ancient Southwestern America at the Dawn of the Twentieth Century will be the first comprehensive exhibition of nineteenth century photography, southwestern artifacts and archival research from the George Hubbard Pepper Native American Archive at Tulane University.
But, if it rains too much, I’ll stay home on Saturday and watch Keeping Up Appearances on my PBS station (if I have electricity). If power goes out, I’ll go to sleep at 7 p.m.
How To Be An American Housewife sounds very good. I put off housework as much as possible…lol.
Hmmmm…bread. Thats one of the things I miss from Puerto Rico too, the yummy bread 🙂
Enjoy your weekend!
Your weekend plans sound lovely! I do enjoy cooking, but I’m awful at tidying up…I always mean to do it before I go to bed, but then I end up reading too late and am too tired! lol
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!! We are off to The Strand Bookstore today and I am armed with a list of books that I am hoping to find on the shelves there. It has been SUPER hot here in NY so today is all about indoor activities. We might catch Inception afterwards… 😉
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend planned. I hope you ended up enjoying it. I know what your husband means about the bread in Germany. That was one of the favorite parts of my trip there last year….eating the bread!
I just finished How to Be an American Housewife this morning, and I loved it. Looking forward to your thoughts!
