Well, so much for my weekend plans of doing a lot of reading and catching up on book reviews but I had a good weekend anyway so that’s what counts. We went to the bookstore for a bit on Sunday, I had a yummy veggie burger from Central Market and I took naps. Good stuff.
I got caught up most weekend trying to read The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny. I have to finish that up for my mystery book group discussion on Tuesday and I know I’ve raved about this series in the past but this book is not doing it for me. I’ll save my comments for when I’m done but overall I just feel like there’s been a turning point here and not sure how I feel about it.
I’ve also been reading Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen and that has been a fun, frothy read. I should finish that one very soon.
I was also planning to go to the library but ended up just stopping in to return some books but hopefully next weekend some holds should come in and I can go grab those. I am waiting for Bad Blood by Lorna Sage which is the next Slaves of Golconda read. Gosh, I’ve had a bad run with the Slaves books this year so hopefully this one will break the cycle of unfinished books.
Off to finish my mystery.
Glad you had a great weekend, Iliana! I can’t wait to hear what you’ll think of Along for the Ride! I’ve yet to read anything by Sarah Dessen but I do have a few of her books in my pile. 🙂
Sounds like you had a great weekend!
I look forward to your thoughts on Along for the Ride! I read my first Sarah Dessen recently and loved it. Also, I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks of Bad Blood. That one has been on my wishlist for ages.
I haven’t read any by Sarah Dessen yet, but i do have one coming in the post. I am thinking of perhaps having a Sarah Dessen month and concentrating on reading just her books.
I will want to hear about The Brutal Telling. I’ve heard so much good about this book!
Sounds like a great weekend to me. Happy reading and have a great week!
Hurray for naps!
I’m wondering what you’re thinking about The Brutal Telling.
The Lorna Sage book I thought was a good read.
Melody – You haven’t read anything by her?! OMG, I could have sworn I heard about this author through you! I need to start taking notes on who recommends a book to me 🙂 I did like it although I was sort of hoping it was going to be a bit more emotional? I promise to post more about it soon!
Kathleen – It was and I’m ready for another good one 🙂
Nymeth – I’m really looking forward to the Lorna Sage book. I’m not a huge fan of memoirs but that one just sounds great.
vivienne – Ah, that would be fun! I liked the book. I’ll have to post on it before I forget everything! haha
Sandy – Have you read the others in the series? Sadly, this is by far my least favorite one. I’ll tell you why soon!
Andreea – Thank you! Hope you are having a great reading week too!
Jodie – I know, right? Naps are awesome 🙂
Tara – It just seemed like so many of the characters became much more meaner and well there are some other things that bugged me too but that was the big one.
I’m looking forward to reading the Lorna Sage book. I think this one might not be quite as challenging as the last couple were (or at least challenging in a different way).
