I’m really looking forward to the weekend although I won’t be able to join Christine and her husband for a museum outing as we had planned. My husband has a big project going on so we’ll have to go another time.
I’m also staying far away from the big bookstores on Friday evening. I think Pottermania is wonderful but I go to the bookstore to relax and what with the contests and events going on for the Harry Potter book release I’m sure the bookstores will be anything but relaxing. For all of you who are going to read the book this weekend – have fun!
So it sounds like I have a lot of free time on my hands right? Well, I’ve already got a little list going on of things I want to do:
- Visit Half Price Books. I have coupons!!
- Spend time (and money) at the Rubber Stamp Convention. I don’t really need any new crafty things but these events only happen twice a year. I have to go.
- Return library books and pay fines. Only $4.50, but that could have been a hazelnut latte. Grr.
- Finish a book.
- Check out Shelfari. Thanks for the link Heather!
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I know I can’t wait for it to start.
I just joined Shelfari. Not sure how it works and I’m still adding books. I also have to figure out how to upload a picture for my profile.
I’m feeling a little Luddite.
I have to remember to stay away from the bookstores too — I often go there on a Friday evening — but not this time!
Sounds like a wonderfully bookish weekend – enjoy! I think shelfari is like librarything??
Have a great one!
I am looking for my first book, so I can vote on http://www2.firstbook.org/whatbook/
Good call. I’ll stay away from the giant bookstores myself. Line has started forming this morning when I walked by Borders.
I think finishing a book would be nice although I just started Snow, by Orhan Pamuk.
Don’t feel too bad about the library fines…it’s going to a good cause.
Have a great weekend!
Dark Orpheus – I wonder if I can transfer in a file. I’ve already added all of my books on Bookpedia and would hate to have to go through that all over again. That’s valuable reading time! ha,ha. I’ll check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
Dorothy W. – Yes, stay far away 🙂
Tara – You are probably right about Shelfari & Library Thing. I will look into and post on it later.
Isabel – Have fun this weekend! I’ll check out the link laters.
Matt – Really a line? Wow. I admit I’d kind of like to see some of the madness. It’s good to be excited about a book. Good luck with Snow. I tried reading that earlier this year and didn’t finish it.
LK – That’s right, the library is a good cause but I’m having a latte addiction 🙂 Have a great weekend and congrats again on your latest news!
Shelfari looks interesting, and yes, sort of like librarything. Sorry about the library fines. Our weekend will be pretty quiet but my husband is taking my two sons to the Harry Potter happening at the nearest Barnes & Noble around 9pm tonight, but we’re assuming they won’t last until midnight when they sell the books. But I’ll let you know if it’s any fun. I’m hoping to finish a book, too, by the way. Have a good weekend!
I forgot that Harry Potter comes out tonight, and went to B&N to relax for a little while. Needless to say, confronted with people dressed up as seemingly everything under the sun (one guy was a Chrismas elf), I turned around and ran.
I’ll be curling up with Emma tonight at home instead!
I managed to read two of the Potter books but stalled on the third so I was happy to give stores a wide berth. Hubby, however, had to stand in the midnight line. Youngest son said he needed the book to read in the car, on the way to and from the state swim meet. And, it certainly did keep him occupied. He laughed a lot while driving to and from the meet and then locked his door to finish, last night. I love having readers. 🙂
Gentle Reader – Hope you had a great weekend. I can’t wait to read about your sons’ visit to B&N for Harry Potter!
Eva – Ah, how could you forget! Good thing you had Emma waiting for you to offset the madness 🙂
Nancy, aka Bookfool – That is awesome! So did he love it? I hope you blog about this. I want to hear more!
Sorry you did not make it on Saturday but I think you had a full and fun weekend despite! I am sorry I missed the rubber stamp convention. I don’t blame you for avoiding the “Potter” craze…
