Following in the blog steps of Susan, Danielle and Orpheus who recently posted their Theme Reading lists, I thought I’d give it a go as well. So I took a look around my bookshelves and here are some stacks that could keep me occupied for a long while.

The Law of Love by Laura Esquivel
Women with Big Eyes by Angeles Mastretta
The Burning Plain by Juan Rulfo
ΓΒ‘Yo! by Julia Alvarez
The House on the Lagoon by Rosario Ferre
This was too much fun. What would some of your theme reading lists look like?
Oh my, I think I would have a never ending list for your “Passport Required” – and I have “Holy Cow” and “Duende” too! Just need to find time to get around to reading it one day.
And I am a vampire fan too. *grin*
This is so fun!
I go on author themes. When I find an author I like I read more books by that person. Sometimes it works out, but sometimes the author is more of a one-hit-wonder.
I’m so doing this as a blog post after seeing a couple!
I’d have Italy, Childhood memoirs, vampires/paranormal, Books I shoulda read a long time ago…
Thanks for the list of Latin America. I need read more in that area!
Dark Orpheus – I know, this is getting addictive isn’t it? hee.
Nik – Oh that’s a good one too.
Lisa – Great! I’ll be over later to see your theme list π
Isabel – De nada. Yo tambien π
If your intrested in the vampire stuff, there’s a vampire seris called A Vampire Huntress Legend. The first one is called: Minion: The Dark Legends Begin by L. A. Banks. There’s about 5 so far in the seris. I have the first 3 books but lost interest tract of it for other books.
I like these lists! I read The Birth of Venus a few years ago and enjoyed that. There seemed to be a lot of corrpution in Florence at that time.. =) I too love movies set in Italia. I think I will have to add a few off your Passport Required and Mi Gente lists as well…
I probably need to check my bookshelves…
Have a great weekend.
I think I might have meant “books set in Italy” above….but I do like movies set in Foreign lands as well!
Erin – I haven’t heard of those but I’m adding it to my list to check it out. Thank you!
Christine – Hee, I’m with you, books OR movies set in Italy are my favorites π Enjoy your weekend girl!
I would have Paranormal Fantasy, Mysteries, International Spy novels and, of course, books about Energy Work/Metaphysics.
I am way deep into the Holographic Universe. I am going to pick up Love in hte Time of Cholrea at the library today. I have two library books that are going back unfinished. They are just not doing it for me. I used to finish a book no matter what. Nowadays, I stop. There are too many other amazing things to read to waste time on something that is not working for me.
Oh this is way too organized for me! LOL My TBR list is a complete mess, I can’t detect any patterns in it. Some books I barely know anything about, other than someone I trust liked them!!
The Law of Love is an old favourite of mine!! Perhaps it is time for a re-read.
Nancy – I bet you would have some cool books in your stacks π I do hope you enjoy Love in the Time of Cholera! Seriously I love that book. I’m like you do, I feel no remorse at not finishing a book I’m not liking.
Genevieve – Oh I completely agree. This is way too organized which is why I probably will still have these books on my shelves waiting to be read forever – ha,ha.. I try but I am such a “read at whim” reader π
Heather T. – Really? Honestly I don’t know anyone who’s read that book! I’m so excited to hear you liked it π
Sadly, I’m on a law-school/career themed reading list right now – Women In The Law, How To Argue and WIn Every Time, Speed Reading, Use Your Head and Learning the Law! A slightly depressing and overly-enthusiastic list, I feel. What I’d really like to be reading would be along a China theme – I still haven’t read my copy of The Bridegroom by Ha Jin, and I would like to read more by Pearl Buck. Another novel about Cxi, the last empress of China would be fascinating I’m sure – I’ve read several already, but she’s so fascinating. But since I just found out I’ll be off to work in Beijing over the summer (huge grin) I’ll have a chance to catch up then!
I love your lists and you’ve given me some thoughts. I think I could probably come up with a list of travel memoirs (wishful thinking – I wanna go, I wanna go), novels/memoirs of WWII, and classics. From my more prolific writing days, I have how-to books about everything from scuba diving to growing orchids. Hmm, may have to give this some thought. π
