I mentioned yesterday that I’ve been doing a lot of reading about books on resume writing. Not the most fun reading mind you but it meant I could make a little visit to Barnes & Noble. On my last several visits to the store I keep seeing the tables with all the after Christmas sales and I never really look at what’s on them thinking it’s all Christmas related stuff but a couple of new tables caught my eye this time.
The tables of items with the blue stickers had a sign over them announcing that you could buy three blue sticker items for $4.98 and so I started digging around. The first find was a book tote with this image. I’ve got lots of book totes but a Bookgirl can’t have enough of them. One for library trips, one for bookstore trips, etc.
My other two finds were Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris and The Dead Hour by Denise Mina. I’ve read a Mina book before and found it to be a good thriller so hopefully this one will be too. Of course now I want to go to a different B&N and see if they are also having a sale. Who knows what other goodies I’ll find.
Plus I noticed that they also had their Classics on sale, buy two and get one free, and now I wish I had bought a couple. Especially as I’ve started collecting their editions. See, I have to go again right?
That would make a great tote for a booklover! I like totes too, although I don’t have all that many. Yet. Your mention of the sale at B&N has me curious. I hope it’s still going on Friday!
Oh, sounds like some good stuff. I’m definitly one of those people that buy something when it’s on sale because of how much money I’m saving. Regardless of whether I need that something or not. Well, at least I’m that way when it comes to books and book accessories.
I’m a bit like aka_nik… sales are dangerous for me. I love the image on the tote bag! You really do have to go again. We all understand 😛
B&N online has many of their hardcover classics on sale for $3.97 ($3.57 if you are a member). I’ve bought way too many already!
Okay, now I have to go to B&N today and see what’s on the sale table 🙂
I always regret when I don’t buy things, so it makes sense just to buy them when you get the chance, and then you won’t regret it later! 🙂
I really like the B&N hardcover classics. I’m currently reading one of them, Great Expectations, for the Year of Reading Dangerously Challenge.
You’re really encouraging the shopping bug over here! I have to go to Books a Million to pick up prizes for the Year of Read Dangerously later on today, and I CAN’T WAIT!
Enjoy your coffee while you are at B&N.
I always pass those tables by, too, thinking there is nothing good there. Now I’ll have to stop and take a look. I have quite a few of their classics, too.
Literary Feline – I am addicted to book bags. I don’t have that many but whenever I see a cute one I want it 🙂
aka Nik – I’m definitely that way when it comes to books. Other things I can sort of put out of my mind but books I think oh it’s not that much and before you know it you spent a small fortune! ha,ha.
Nymeth – I knew I could count on you guys to push me in the right direction 🙂
Tricia – Oh yes, I have my little member discount so that’s even a bit more savings. I didn’t notice if the hardbacks were on sale. I’ll have to see.
Ravenous Reader – Hope you find some sales and you’ll have to post about them!
Dorothy W. – That always happens to me. What’s worse is then you end up spending more money on gas and just time. Silly. I should just indulge 🙂
Lisa – I love their classic editions although I prefer the paperback ones and am building quite a nice collection now. How are you enjoying GE?
Andi – Ha,ha… Just doing my bookgirl job 🙂 Have fun at Books a Million!
Isabel – You betcha… I’m craving a cinnamon dolce latte. Haven’t had that in a while.
Danielle – I always pass them up too… I’m going to have to pay a bit more close attention now!
Of course you have to go again! 🙂 I like the tote you got. I might have to venture out into the deep freeze for that!
Just got back from B&N with some great books from the sale table! (And a couple that weren’t on sale, but, oh well…)
By the way, I tagged you for a meme here: http://ravenousreader.wordpress.com/2008/01/24/hmmm-let-me-see/
Ooh, I love that book tote! Some of our local bookstores have some great offers too. Buy 3 for the price of 2… or half price for the second book etc etc. And because of this, I couldn’t help myself so I have bought a few of them home, definitely not good when my pile is already so high, LOL. You have fun at the other bookstores!!
I read Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris. I thought it was okay. It wasn’t the best book I read but it wasn’t the worest either.
Stefanie – I didn’t get a chance to go today but Friday I’m so there! 🙂
Ravenous Reader – Thank you for the tag. I love memes. Can’t wait to hear what you got at B&N.
Melody – I know, it’s not like we need more books right? There is just no willpower for us bookworms 🙂
Erin – Ooh, thanks for letting me know. I’ll post on it when I finally get to it. I have to say I’m not expecting a lot so maybe that’s a good frame of mind!
I think you may have to check out the hardcovers online. At least, I didn’t see any when I was in our store over the weekend (and I’ve noticed a lot of things are just cheaper on the site than in the store). I’m very jealous about the cute tote!
Tricia – Ah, that’s true. Their online sales sometimes are better than what they have at the store. I still haven’t gone back to another store but I may go today 🙂
LOL Good thing you bought that bag!
I love that image for a book tote – very cute!
Ooooh, love that image! And, your B & N has better sales items than ours. I just bought bookmarks.
I remember when we were selling those totes! We didn’t have any for our clearance sale, but we sure have a lot of good stuff still. I keep perusing the tables to see if there’s anything I just have to have. 🙂 By the way, I have a blank journal (lined) with that artwork (the man sweeping up papers in a library). I’m using it for my book journal this year. 🙂
Heather T. – I know! Funny thing is, as I was checking out the cashier was about to bag my stuff. I told her I’d use my new tote thankyouverymuch 🙂
Stephanie – It’s so cute isn’t it.
Nancy, aka Bookfool – They really did a great job on those sales. I even saw some other books that I’d been lusting over recently but had either bought or borrowed already. Should have waited for the sale!
Les in NE – Hee, we’ll both be sporting bookish styles 🙂 Did you find any good books for yourself yet?
