I’m sorry for the short post tonight but I just got back home from a very fun evening with my best friend Christine. We had a bit of an early birthday celebration for her and indulged in some comforting Rooibos Vanilla tea at this great little place. I’m more of a coffee girl but I think I need to drink more tea. I really feel very relaxed this evening.
So I’ll leave you instead with The Book Design Review where you can vote for your favorite book covers of the year. I am leaning towards The Chess Machine and Words Without Borders.
I’m off to continue with Don’t Look At Me Like That. A great book so far. It sort of reminds me of some books I’ve read by Gail Godwin, Barbara Pym and Anita Brookner.

I’m a great tea drinker and I’n green with envy having just checked out the tea menus on the Tempest site. Nowhere locally would have that range available and certainly no where that would be open to enjoy them in the evening. Mind you, a Japanese student did give me some Japanese Green tea last week which was both kind and welcome.
I voted for The Chess Machine a couple of days ago.
I just voted for Words without Borders. I love tea, which is a good thing since I can’t drink coffee recently. I think I need to go make myself a cup of tea now. 🙂
Last night was so nice and thank you so much for the lovely goodies!! It was the perfect way to start off celebrating….
I am going to have to make my vote on favorite book covers!
Have a wonderful holiday!
Ann Darnton – It is such a great little place. I just wish it was closer to my house. Maybe then I’d check it out more often and become more of a tea drinker 🙂
Susan – I really, really like the look of that book.
Tanabata – I know, I don’t know which one I’ll vote for! I like both still. What kind of tea do you like?
Christine – Hope you are having a terrific day girl! I was so happy to see you and hope you guys have tons of fun in Austin. We must do a movie night soon.
Great book covers. I liked several, but I voted for Chip Kidd’s design for After Dark. I love Chip Kidd.
I picked up the book One Red Paperclip because of the cover, so I had to vote for that one. I had no idea what the book was about, but when I read it, I loved it for its quirkiness and I was surprised that I’d never heard of the story, considering the media that surrounded it. Recommend it!
Happy T-Day! Gobble-Gobble!
Andi – Oh Chip Kidd’s are always good ones aren’t they?
Karen Olson – Really? This is good to note I’ll keep that one in mind. I love quirky books!
Maggie – Hee,hee. You have a great one too!
Happy Thanksgiving to you. 🙂
I have seen more tea shops opening in the city, a good news for those who don’t drink coffee. My favorite is a shop called Samovar with Asian decor, Buddha sculpture and bamboo chairs. I can while away an afternoon there with a book. 🙂
I’m going for simplicity–so my fave book cover is the Red Paperclip.
Matt – Samovar sounds so cute! The Tempest Tea shop I go to is really nice but unfortunately not close enough for me to go to all the time. So that’s why I end up at Starbucks most of the time 🙂
That Red Paperclip cover is growing on me.
I love Rooibos tea! I’m originally from South Africa and it’s a very common, popular tea there. I have it very often, and there’s a market here in NC that sells Rooibos tea-bags. It’s got the most excellent taste. 🙂
Pierre Lourens – I’ve only had Rooibos a few times but it was really yummy. I definitely need to try more!
