Happy Sunday everyone! I hope your first week of the year has been off to a great start. Â I’m trying to get back to a more regular blog posting schedule so a perfect way is to join in on The Sunday Salon. Thank you to Deb at Readerbuzz for hosting the chat.
What I’m watching: We are flying through Breaking Bad and are now at Season 4. I can’t believe I resisted watching this show for so long. It’s wonderful.
What I’m reading: I’ve got several books in progress but one that is just so sweet is The Traveling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa; translated by Philip Gabriel. I chose this one for the Japanese Literature Reading challenge and it’s a delightful story with a cat as the narrator.
What I’m enjoying: My Legend Planner. I’ve always used planners but I like this one because it has a habit tracker and it makes me think a bit more about my weekly goals, etc. I used a Legend Planner last year but started it a bit after the beginning of the year so it’s nice to have a fresh start.
What I did: I quietly closed my Etsy Shop, Bookgirl’s Studio at the end of the year. It was a dream to have my little online shop and then to do craft shows and have my journals in different boutiques. I never planned on anything like that so it was very exciting. However, the past couple of years between my job and more caregiving responsibilities, it just became another source of making me feel overwhelmed so I decided it was time to close. Thank you to all of you who supported my crafty adventures. And, by no mean are my crafty adventures over. I still love bookbinding and making books and who knows maybe in a few years I’ll decide it’s time to return.

The Legend Planner looks like an ideal way to set and work on goals. I keep a more kick-back journal, centering on a dot-journal in which I write or draw or paste in things I like and ideas I want to work out.
I’m sad you’ve closed your Etsy shop, but I understand how it can be overwhelming right now. I can remember a time in my life when just work and family obligations filled all my squares.
Deb Nance at Readerbuzz – I find it’s really helping me to tick off boxes and plan things out a bit more! I think whatever system works is the one that’s right. I see some people have very detailed planners and track moods and etc. I like that but I don’t think I could keep up with that much. And, yes, sometimes we just have to know what our limits are and accept them. I think it’s given me more peace to know I don’t have to worry about having my little shop and who knows maybe that could be my retirement project 🙂
I’m so sorry to hear you closed your Etsy shop! I understand though. I hope one day you are able to return to it.
I really enjoyed The Traveling Cat Chronicles and am glad to hear you are too! I am sorry to hear you closed your Etsy shop, but I totally understand. It sounds like it was the right decision for you at this time in your life. I love the notebooks you made. They are extra special to me because they are handmade. I hope you have a great week!

As my stepmom always says, to every thing there is a season. Giving up your Etsy Shop must have been hard, but I’ll bet you feel a sense of relief to not have that hanging over you. I won’t be surprised if you start up again in another 5 years or so. Great quote!
I’m sorry to hear you closed your Etsy Shop but I can totally understand, Iliana. It’s a challenge to juggle this together with your job and your caregiving responsibilities. Hopefully you’ll be able to return to it one day soon. Hope you’ve a great week!
