I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was quite nice as I spent a good part of it with one of my cousins who came to visit. We did the usual shopping and catching up bit, and in between all of that I did manage to start reading two books, both which are challenge reads.
The first one is The Scent of Shadows which is one of my choices for the Once Upon a Time challenge. It seems to have a lot going on but it’s entertaining and so far has been a surprisingly fast read.
The other book I started was Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. This one is for the Year of Reading Dangerously challenge, and also one that I challenged my husband to read. We both started it but have only gotten a few pages into it. This is the first time we are both reading the same book at the same time so it’s kind of cool.
My Believer bundle jumble also arrived this weekend and I think I’m going to enjoy going through the back issues. I got a music issue and a couple of visual issues which means these come with DVDs with short films and music.
I’m off to catch up on my reading.
It sounds like you’re off to a good start this week, reading wise. I am hoping to get back into the groove of reading and just about everything else this week, if I can. I feel like I haven’t opened a book in ages. I actually did read some this morning and am just about to head off to bed for a little more reading. Have a great week, Iliana.
I’m a Hesse fan and really liked Siddhartha, but it is so different from his other works, in both length and writing style.
I didn’t read much during the weekend, so I’m hoping to catch up for the next few days… hope you’ve a great weekend.
Enjoy Siddhartha! And it sounds like fun to read the same book with your husband — I do that now and then and we have interesting conversations afterward.
I just found Siddhartha on my stacks the other day when I was getting my bookcases arranged. I might have to give it a go in case I don’t finish Cat’s Eye for this month’s DAngerously challenge.
Cool on both of you reading the same book. I read it years ago, but I think that I need to revisit it.
Your jumble looks great!
Glad you had fun with your cousins.
Way to get started on your challenges right away. I’m behind on the ONE challenge I signed up for… oh well.
That’s fun that you and your husband are reading a book together. Have a good week!
Literary Feline – I hope you had a chance to catch up on your reading! It’s so hard when other things are calling for our attention right.
jenclair – Really? I’ve not read any Hesse so I didn’t know that. Unfortunately I’m still just opening the pages practically so can’t tell much about it but from what I hear I think I will like it.
Melody – My cousin didn’t stay the whole weekend otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten any reading done! Hope you have a great week too!
Dorothy W. – I’m looking forward to that although he started another book yesterday. Grr, who knows when we’ll both finish to discuss this! ha,ha.
Andi – Are you not enjoying Cat’s Eye? I’d read it before that’s why I didn’t choose it. It is a great story.
Isabel – I’ll have to keep you posted on the magazines. I get the feeling it’ll take me a whole year to go through them – ha,ha.
aka_nik – Well, I’m typically behind on my challenges too but I seem to be doing a bit better this time around. I did take myself out of one challenge which I hadn’t started.
tanabata – I think it’ll be fun too! Hope you have a great one too!
I am enjoying it, but for some reason it just hasn’t clicked. You know? I enjoy it well enough when I pick it up, but I don’t feel particularly drawn to pick it up. *sigh* Maybe after I get done with Sorry, by Gail Jones. I definitely haven’t given up on it.
Andi – That happens sometimes right. Ah well, it’s not like you don’t have tons of other books waiting for you right? 🙂
