So Many Books

December was an amazing month for books bought, gifted, exchanged, etc. As you can see in the picture that’s a lot of books that I need to add to my shelves but I’m not complaining!

First I was super excited to get an autographed copy of Sailing by Starlight by Rod Scher. A non-fiction piece on an incredible nautical journey. Also, don’t forget to leave a review in time to enter the giveaway that Lesley is hosting! You have until end of the month.

I also received two Advance Review Copies: Trouble by Kate Ivar and Birthright by Charles Lambert.

A dear friend of mine knows I love poetry and she gifted me, Weaving Sundown in a Scarlet Light by Joy Harjo. I’ve only read a couple of her poems here and there so I’m very excited about this collection.

One of our local independent bookstores, Malvern Books, closed last week but I made it out to their closing sale on Christmas Eve and bought a The Wall by Mary Roberts Rhinehart, Mamma by Diana Tutton, The Chandelier by Clarice Lispector, The Dead Girls’ Class Trip by Anna Seghers, The Women of Weird Tales, The 6:41 to Paris by Jean-Philippe Blondel, and a little Christmas ghost story, How Fear Departed the Long Gallery, by E.F. Benson. I’m still hopeful about the bookstore returning with new owners or in some other way.

Then for Christmas my husband gifted me Make Ink, A Happy Poem to End Every Day, The Haunting Season, and The Magic Hour. Love all of these!

If all of this wasn’t enough, after Christmas B&N had a sale of 50% off of all hardcovers so I couldn’t resist and got Nightcrawling by Leila Mottley and Witches by Brenda Lozano. Don’t these books have great covers?

Finally, Half Price Books was also having a holiday sale and during my week off between Christmas and New Year I had to visit one of the local shops and got The Door by Magda Szabo, Indian Summer by William Dean Howells, and Which Way by Theodora Benson.

Oh and I forgot that there are a couple of other books that I got via my Mystery Book club end of year exchange. And, I have a B&N gift card I received which is burning a hole in my pocket. It was a total bookish month and I loved it. Now to find time to read all of these and shelf space!

How about you, did you get some books for Christmas or do a bit of book shopping yourself?
