A lot of new books were add to my bookshelves in December so I wanted to share a bit about those with you.
I got three books in translation Cockfight by MarÃa Fernanda Ampuero; translated by Frances Riddle; Vista Chinesa by Tatiana Salem Levy; translated by Alison Entrekin and Jawbone by Mónica Ojeda; translated by Sarah Booker.
Two crime books I received from publishers are The Hollow Tree by Phillip Miller and The City of the Living by Nicola Lagioia; translated by Ann Goldstein.
For creative inspiration I got Print Workshop by Christine Schmidt, The Creative Act by Rick Burn and Gel Plate Printing for Mixed Media Art by Robyn McClendon.
Finally two books which have been on my radar for a while are the bestsellers Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. I’ve heard such great things about both of these.
I’d love to hear if you’ve read any of these, and did you get any new books for Christmas or over the holidays?
I haven’t but I have heard good things about Cockfight. I received Steve Innskeep’s new book – Differ We Must – for Christmas! I gave books and book related gifts as well – I gifted my son a 12 month Audible membership, I gave my fiancee Jon Meachem’s the Soul of America and I gifted my future MIL the new biography on MLK.
Very nice variety of books. I gifted myself some ebooks as I have given away my paper library and don’t want to add any new ones. Enjoy your reading.
I didn’t get any new books for Christmas, but I always do a book splurge in January to help get me through the winter blues. Happy reading all of your new books! 😀
Melissa Kowalewski – Oh I love his reporting and I bet that will be an interesting read. I always love to give books as presents too. Those were great gifts you get and hope everyone enjoys them.
Harvee – I do enjoy ebooks a lot but I tend to forget about them sometimes as they aren’t just there. I probably need to focus a bit more on what I have before adding any more though that’s for sure!
Lark – That’s a wonderful way to get through the winter blues! I do have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket so let’s see how long it’ll last before I have to get more books! haha…
I got lots of new books in November (birthday) and December (Christmas). I hope you enjoy all those you received.
I’ve read Lessons in Chemistry and Tom Lake. Liked the first one ok, but loved Patchett’s much more so.
I only got one new book this year for Christmas (Holly by Stephen King), but one of the books I bought for my mom wound up on my shelf since she’s already read it (on her Nook – hard for me to peek and see what she’s read when it’s not on her shelf!). The book is Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk, which I’ve heard is very good. I’m looking forward to it!
Enjoy your new books!
I’ve heard good things about Lessons in Chemistry and Tom Lake, too! Hope you enjoy them!
I hope you enjoy all of your new books, Iliana! I keep hearing good things about Lessons in Chemistry and Tom Lake. I’ll be really curious to see what you think of The City of the Living. I am interested in that one.
