Well, that’s a title I didn’t think I’d be using while living here in Austin, TX. We got some of the storm a lot of you guys have been dealing with and being that we are so not prepared for that kind of thing here a lot of places are closed. I get to stay home from work – yay. Of course I have to do a bit of work from home but this means I get to also catch up on other things.
This week has been tiring and I’m so happy I get a bit of a break now. Plus you know things are looking up when you open your email and there are coupons from Half Price Books and Borders. Instant weekend plans.
Actually I do have a book group to go to on Sunday so I’m looking forward to that. Aside from that I’m hoping to catch up on my reading. This week has not been a good reading week. All of my bookmarks seem to be stuck in the same spots.
What about you? Have any big weekend plans? Have a happy weekend everyone and more bookishness soon.
Fun! We’ve been snowed in since Tuesday, so I’m going to attempt to go to work tomorrow if the roads are clear. Otherwise…it’s homework. *le sigh*
Tiffany – I can’t believe what I’ve been hearing about Dallas. Even that’s extreme. I don’t remember it ever being more than 1-2 snow days. Stay warm and do your homework 🙂
We are getting more snow here in NYC. Our 9th storm this season! I need to get together snow day books.
I feel guilty for living in Phoenix and having such gorgeous weather – though it is a lot colder than normal! I lived in Austin for two years and never got snow or even an ice storm. Enjoy your snow day!
We are having it, too! It looks beautiful, but I’m glad I don’t have to get out and try to drive in it. All the schools are closed…great day for keeping warm and reading!
Nicole – 9th storm?! Oh goodness, I think I’d be moving out 🙂 I’m a wimp though. Keep warm and get in a lot of reading 🙂
Anbolyn – We had a gorgeous weekend, Sunday we were up to 80! And, now this? Totally unreal. My friends in Dallas are all freaking out because they’ve been indoors for four days now. Even that’s unusual!
jenclair – Just saw your pictures. I can’t believe Louisiana got that! I’m “working” from home but really there’s only so much you can do. I need to grab a book and keep it next to my computer. haha.
No snow here in Mobile, Al but it is cold and rainy, about 42 degrees. I love reading on cold, rainy days!
Enjoy the snow! I’m going to Haworth this weekend, which I’m ridiculously excited about.
Glad to pass some of our weather south to you Iliana! 😉 Not sure about the others but McKinney has cancelled school for the past four days. Unfortunately our office never closes for bad weather (something I think they should reconsider!), but I missed Tuesday and today and am staying well bundled up. Hope it melts enough tomorrow, though, for me to use my HPB coupon! That would be a shame not to.
Stay warm and enjoy the break.
It’s supposed to warm up , this weekend (to 60!) so we’re planning on painting at least two, maybe three of my office walls. Can’t wait! I want to get the painting done so we can put up molding, drape Christmas lights, rearrange and then have my neighbor build me a new desk and shelves. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a redo!
Hope you enjoy your snow!!!
We definitely made the most of our few hours of snow here. I took lots of pictures to post next week!
1morechapter – I do too! Just add a comfy chair, a mug of coffee or tea, snacks and seriously, it’s heaven right? 🙂
Nymeth – Have fun this weekend! What have you got planned in Haworth? You must share pics.
Trish – One of my friends lives in Plano and she told me she’s getting cabin fever from being cooped up for four days now! That is unbelievable to me. Technically my office never closes either but as I’m not “essential staff” (isn’t that a lovely term) it was ok for me to work a bit from home. So glad I didn’t have to get out there with the rest of the drivers. Hope you get to go to HPB!
Bookfool, aka Nancy – Oh you’ll have to show us your finished office project. Sounds so cool. I’d love to have some cool lights in my studio. I think it needs more character!
Amanda – Can’t wait to see your pics because I frankly didn’t see much aside from my back yard! haha… I just didn’t want to chance going out. My husband rode his bike to work and he said he saw quite a few cars just stuck on the road because it was icy.
Enjoy the snow Iliana 🙂 As for myself, I’m tired of it already lol. Happy reading this weekend, I can never resist Borders.
The weather is just crazy. Technically we have 3 systems passing through tonight and tomorrow bringing either snow or rain. There is so much snow now I have no idea where more is going to go!
More snow than I’ve seen since in years!
Good you were able to work from home … hope you got some reading in too, and moved those bookmarks a bit.
What is your book group discussing this weekend?
We have so much snow and ice here, and I’m staying indoors most of the weekend. I did, however, see The King’s Speech last night, and that was fun. I’m glad you enjoyed your snow day!
bookworm – I swear we only had it for a day. Yesterday we went out and you couldn’t see anything! It was gorgeous. I don’t think I could handle the snow you guys get 🙂
Kailana – Oh goodness, stay warm! The weather has been very weird here too. I mean, we never get snow. And, the temps go up and down by a lot.
Dawn – She is Too Fond of Books – Didn’t get as much reading as I hoped but it was nice to work from home. Didn’t have to deal with the yucky commute I have. And, book group is discussing Pronto by Elmore Leonard. Not really my kind of book but it’ll be fun to go sit and talk 🙂
Dorothy W. – I totally want to see King’s Speech. We went to see Black Swan last night and I really enjoyed it. Stay warm over there!
We’ve had several storms (with snow & ice), but it finally warmed up yesterday and all we had was rain. Of course, this morning everything’s pretty slick outside, but at least we didn’t get anymore snow. Spring is just around the corner, right?? 🙂
Les in NE – So the groundhog says right? 🙂 We have a gorgeous sunny day. Seriously that is what I love about Texas – the winter’s here are so mild. Granted, remind me about this when we are in the 100s by May! haha…
Stay warm, Iliana!
I expected some rains (perhaps storms) over the Chinese New Year holidays but I’m glad it didn’t. I’m hoping the weather continues to stay that way and that the storm over your end will clear up soon!
Happy reading! 🙂
I hope you enjoyed your snow day and your weekend!
Wow, the weather this year has been insanely crazy. We are having springtime temps out here in California. I am enjoying it but afraid we are going to get torrential rains or something like that next!
Melody – Our weather has really been insane this year. One moment it’s warn and the next really cold. granted I’m not ready for summer so I’ll just be thankful that at least we still have lots of sunny days 🙂
Stefanie – It was good! I did have to work a bit from home but at it was kind of nice to have an unexpected day off.
Kathleen – Hopefully no rains and just lovely weather going your way! It has been crazy everywhere hasn’t it?
