I haven’t talked about my book groups lately because I’ve been on a book group break for two months now. I enjoy my groups but I noticed my piles of books were growing larger because I was trying to read book group choices instead of my books.
I know some people don’t like book groups but I really enjoy them. Whether we agree or not, I can always count on lively discussions about books. What could be better than that right?
Now some of my groups have selected books I really want to read or have already read so I think I’ll be jumping back on the book group bandwagon soon. Here’s what is up ahead for me in June.
- Foreign Authors Group held at a Borders- The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (already read)
- Mystery Authors Group held at a Barnes & Noble – Shinju by Laura Joh Rowland (currently reading)
- Reading Matters – Labyrinth by Kate Mosse (sounds fun)
- Slaves of Golconda – The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark (have always wanted to read one of her books)
So now to find a balance between book groups and the lure of my book stacks.
