It’s time for one of my most favorite reading events, R.I.P. XVI – yes, now in it’s 16th year. I had a great reading month in August but I have to say seeing Halloween displays and candy filling up the grocery store shelves, has me thinking about ghostly and spooky reads.
There are several perils so you can read a short story or watch a film. There’s even a R.I.P. Bingo card which is really cool. And, there’s also a group read of The Sundial by Shirley Jackson.
I have several books that I think would be great for this challenge. Let me know if you’ve read these titles:
The Crying Child by Barbara Michaels. An eerie wailing coming from the woods. Enough said.
The Good House by Tananarive Due. A story with some supernatural elements and of course a house with a special history.
The Appearance of Annie Van Sinderen by Katherine Howe. This one is about a filmmaker, a seance and a psychic. What could go wrong?
No doubt, I’ll find others to mix in or take the place of these. I’d really like to read some short stories, watch a scary movie and maybe listen to some podcasts.
I would love to hear if you are joining and if you already have a list of planned reads. Don’t forget to tag @PerilReaders in your Instagram posts and have a thrilling time!
I really love Barbara Michaels! She writes some good eerie books. Happy reading The Crying Child! 😀
I’ve not done any reading challenges for years but I’m always curious to know what other readers are reading and hearing their thoughts as well. Hope you’ve fun with this challenge, Iliana!
The Crying Child is one of my favorite Barbara Michaels books. I read it more than once and it’s been a long time. Maybe a reread is in order. Glad you are doing this challenge as well!
Yay! This is one of my favorite reading challenges. Enjoy it! I haven’t read any on your list myself but they sound good.
This one is always fun; I love seeing lists and getting even more book ideas. Shirley Jackson’s books are great for this challenge.
It’s just not fall without RIP! My tbr just keeps growing with all the lists…glad you’re joining in, too
I’m eager to see how everyone’s choices turn out! The Appearance of Annie van Sinderen certainly caught my interest.
I didn’t know #RIP could stretch through September too! And is that a new #RIP logo I see? I’m also going to try to read something spooky this month. Thanks for the heads-up!
