Pages magazine is out again! Couldn’t find a link to the current issue but if you want to read a bit about what Pages is about you can check the link. This fantastic publication from the publishers of Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine is of course a must have for me as I’m always on the lookout for new books and magazines on the topic of bookbinding and art journaling.
If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at bookbinding this magazine has some easy tutorials to follow. I always find it inspiring especially when artists use unconventional materials for book covers. In this issue there is one book made with driftwood and another from a pressed cardboard fruit tray. In this case the book isn’t necessarily meant to be read – it’s book art.
One of the projects that I think I will try is making some booklaces. You know, a book and a necklace in one! I have tons of vintage buttons I’ve gotten from my in-laws in Germany so I think it’d be fun to use some of those in tiny books.
In case you’re wondering what I’ve been up to lately in my studio; cleaning & clearing. I’ve put aside some of my journals in progress as I am not participating in the summer shows I was anticipating. So I’m enjoy crafting purely for fun and playing with some of my other supplies – oil pastels, stencils, sprays – oh the possibilities. I feel like I’m re-discovering my studio and it’s fun.
I love these crafty sorts of magazines–I used to subscribe to a few but they are on the pricey side, so I just look at them in the store when I happen across them. Lots of good, creative ideas, though. And I love Cloth Paper Scissors!
Yayyyy for Pages!
Danielle – So right. This one cost $15! I used to have a few subscriptions but gave them up after a while. I can’t quite give up on the bookbinding and art journaling ones though 🙂
Andi @ Estellas’s Revenge – I agree, yay! 🙂
sounds like a great publications. I just learned that my library will be offering eMagazine downloads after July sometime. exciting.
Diane@BibliophilebytheSea – Oh who fun! I hope you find some good ones to read. I was just reading a post from Stefanie at So Many Books talk about magazines from the library. I need to look into that too 🙂
