The Read-A-Thon Begins

24hrreading1-thumb.jpgGood morning everyone – ready for the Read-A-Thon? I’m still kind of in sleep mode but I’ve got a big cup of hazelnut coffee ready and I’m going to take over my husband’s chair (he’ll be out biking anyway) so I think I’m ready to start.

Last year I think I only read about five or six hours of the entire Read-A-Thon. I’m not sure how this year will go but hopefully I’ll get in quite a good deal of reading.

To start off with, I’m going to finish The Best Place to Be by Lesley Dormen. I’ve enjoyed this novel so far and am close to the end. The other book I started this week, which was not one I had planned to start but you know how that goes, is Funeral Music by Morag Joss. I love the setting – Bath.

I’ll try to update a couple of times throughout the Read-A-Thon and of course when I take some breaks I’ll stop by with other participants and check in on you guys. Enjoy everyone and let’s read a lot!

The Winner Is…

societyofs1.jpgThanks to Random.org, the winner of my copy of The Society of S by Susan Hubbard is Serena from Savvy Verse & Wit. Congrats Serena!

Thanks for everyone who participated in the giveaway. I’m actually going to have another giveaway next week so stay tuned. This one is for a brand new book that seems to be appearing all over the blogosphere.

Now, have I gotten all my books, snacks, etc. ready for the Read-A-Thon? Nope! I’m so behind. Ok, short post tonight because I need to get ready. See you guys during the Read-A-Thon!

24 Hour Read-A-Thon

readathon5.jpgIt’s almost that time you guys! I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to participate but our visitors aren’t coming until Sunday so that means I have all day Saturday to read. Yippee.

So are you participating in the Read-A-Thon? Last I checked there were more than 100 readers signed up for this year’s event. Isn’t that great? To top it off there are mini-challenges: Carl V. is hosting one (and of course with some great prizes). Some other readers, like Andi and Tanabata have wonderful personal challenges. How can you not root for them!

And, then there are the prizes – just take a look at all that good stuff. It’s going to be fabulous – thank you to Dewey, the co-hosts and all the cheerleaders.

Now this means, I’ve been staring at my stacks a lot trying to figure out which books I want to read. I have so many to choose from but why do I have a feeling a quick trip to the bookstore on Friday is in order? ha.

I’m not sure how much I’ll be posting and updating but I’ll try to break up my reading a bit by doing some blog hopping and cheering on other read-a-thon readers. And, of course, I’ll have to post with a picture or list of the books I’m planning to read. That’s part of the fun!

And, totally unrelated but I’m also going to announce the giveaway of The Society of S book sometime late on Friday so you still have some time to join in.
