It’s almost that time you guys! I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to participate but our visitors aren’t coming until Sunday so that means I have all day Saturday to read. Yippee.
So are you participating in the Read-A-Thon? Last I checked there were more than 100 readers signed up for this year’s event. Isn’t that great? To top it off there are mini-challenges: Carl V. is hosting one (and of course with some great prizes). Some other readers, like Andi and Tanabata have wonderful personal challenges. How can you not root for them!
And, then there are the prizes – just take a look at all that good stuff. It’s going to be fabulous – thank you to Dewey, the co-hosts and all the cheerleaders.
Now this means, I’ve been staring at my stacks a lot trying to figure out which books I want to read. I have so many to choose from but why do I have a feeling a quick trip to the bookstore on Friday is in order? ha.
I’m not sure how much I’ll be posting and updating but I’ll try to break up my reading a bit by doing some blog hopping and cheering on other read-a-thon readers. And, of course, I’ll have to post with a picture or list of the books I’m planning to read. That’s part of the fun!
And, totally unrelated but I’m also going to announce the giveaway of The Society of S book sometime late on Friday so you still have some time to join in.
I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!! I’m so excited this time because I actually have some help to free up my time. B. was not so willing to help me clear my schedule, but my mom thinks it’s totally cool. She’s even sponsoring my reading!
Can’t wait to hear what you choose!
Yay! I’m glad you’re joining in too. 🙂
Unfortunately I’ve to give it a miss this year! I know how fun this challenge is; here I wish all participants good luck and have fun! 🙂
I won’t be able to do it this time either because my in-laws are in town. Maybe next time. Good luck to all participating.
Wish I have time to join!
Saturday is my mom’s b-day, so we are having breakfast out, running some errands Uptown, having lunch out. On Sunday, I have to exercise by walking near Lake Pontchartrain and maybe I can read a bit, but not 24 hours. Boo Hoo.
I won’t be able to join this year, but I’ll be excited to see how everyone else does. Have fun!
I am so impressed! As much as I love reading, I don’t think I could handle this! Have fun!
No 24 hours of reading dedicated reading time for me. Hmmmph, but it does sound like so much fun and there are some great giveaways. It would be great to see photographs documenting people participating in this 24 hour challenge and then create a book from it! 😉
24 hrs of reading?! I wish. It’ll be apple picking and pumpkin carving for me. Have fun and good luck in your challenges!
I’m so glad you’re joining in 😀 Happy reading!
Andi – That’s awesome! Hope you read a lot of pages for Ecolibris 🙂
tanabata – Me too! I missed out on the Spring read-a-thon and hated the idea of missing again. The only thing I forgot to do today was buy some snacks 🙂
Melody – Well, you do have a very good excuse this time 🙂 Enjoy the weekend with your family!
nik – I feel for you girl. I understand the family issues. Oh believe me, I understand! How’s your eye by the way?
Isabel – Happy Bday to your mom! You didn’t tell me that. Please tell her I wish her a wonderful birthday. You girls enjoy!
Lisa – Of course reading is great but it’s just so fun to see how everyone else is doing too. We’ll miss you but maybe next time!
Tiffany – Well, last time I think I only read 5 hours but it was still fun. I did a lot of blog hopping during the day to check in with the other readers and it was just fun!
Christine – Oh wouldn’t that be a hoot! I do think some bloggers posted a lot of pics last year as they read throughout the day. See, you should be here to document my read-a-thon! haha 🙂
Mike B. – Sounds like you are going to have a very fun day! I don’t know many hours I’ll actually end up reading but I’m willing to try 🙂
Nymeth – Me too! Can’t wait to catch up with you during the read-a-thon 🙂
Have fun reading Iliana and everyone. I won’t be participating since I’ll be running errands and attending a symphony concert in the evening. I do plan to read for a few hours–just started Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie and I’m loving it! 🙂
Cool that you’re joining in too! 🙂 Did you buy loads on Friday?
Have fun with this! We’re just back from vacation and there’s no way I could tell me husband I was going to “check out” as Mom and read for a full day 🙂 Maybe next time ….
