Happiness Is…

The weekend is almost here and I’m really looking forward to it. I have a long list of things I want to get done so hopefully this hot weather (we’ve been hitting the 100s) will not wear me down too much. So to keep this short and sweet here are some things that are bringing me joy lately.

The recent announcement of the Austin Book Arts Center. I can’t wait to join and take some classes. I already saw that they have an intro to letterpress class. I want to sign up right now but Fall is usually a busy time for me with work events, my shop vending events and holidays but this is so exciting. I’ll be sure to let you know after my first visit.

Red garden shoes. No excuses for why I can’t go out and help my husband in the garden right?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACute planner stickers. I use a Filofax planner so I get a kick of out these cute stickers. Good also for just general journaling, to add to notes, etc. You can find tons of these on Etsy and Ebay. I have some from the Bonnie series and the Cooky Helloday series.

Netgalley. I think some of Jenclair’s recent reviews have prompted me to checkout Netgalley more often. I don’t typically read a lot on my Kindle but being that we are going on vacation soon, I thought what a perfect way to check out some new titles and have plenty of books on hand.

Finally, watermelon. Love, love cold watermelon during these hot days.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend and let me know what you are enjoying lately.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI hope you all had a great weekend. I got to see some friends, did a bit of shopping and had some ice cream. It is way too hot here and ice cream is a must.

On the reading front I finished a wonderful book. One Plus One by Jojo Moyes. Have you guys read it? If you haven’t and are looking for a charming and sweet story, you need this one. On the cover it has a blurb about Bridget Jones meets Little Miss Sunshine and I can see why.

So my other books were left to the side while I read this one but now I’m back to reading Brokken Monsters by Lauren Beukes, which is quite the creepy thriller but I’m very much intrigued.

I’m also still reading Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver. This book is not that long but it’s not holding my attention very much. I think it’s probably because I cannot stand one of the main characters. I’m very close to finishing it though so I will report back once I’m done.

Finally on the audiobook front, I just started Notorious by Allison Brennan. This is the first in the Max Revere series. I think this will be a good one for the gym. Now, let’s just hope I put in enough hours at the gym before the book is due back at the library. Ha.

What about you, what books are you reading?

Hello August

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI meant to put up this post sooner but I had family visiting me these last few days. Anyway, it’s time to do another monthly wrap up. I had a pretty good reading month in July and finished five books.

Books finished in July were The Ghost Fields by Elly Griffiths, Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King, Shortcomings by Adrian Tomine, Hugo & Rose by Bridget Foley and The Year My Mother Came Back by Alice Eve Cohen.

There was a mix of graphic novel, mystery, fiction and non-fiction. Now, I’m carrying over two books from July into August but more on those later.

I’ve also thought about where I stand on my reading challenges and I was surprised to realize I have finished the What’s In A Name Challenge. I haven’t kept up with doing my reviews but I have read six books that satisfy the requirements. Yay me!

As far as my other five challenges go, well let’s just say I’m stuck at one or two books max, but that’s ok. We’ll see what the next few months bring.

How about you, how is your reading going this year?
