I really liked this meme and had to steal it from Eva. I’ve seen a few others already post this so if you haven’t yet, go ahead and play – I’d love to read your answers.
One book you’re currently reading: Portrait in Sepia by Isabel Allende
One book that changed your life: The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama
One book you’d want on a deserted island: The Norton Anthology of World Literature, Volumes A-F (technically not one book but let’s pretend it is)
One book you’ve read more than once: The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
One book you’ve never been able to finish: Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
One book that made you laugh: Naked by David Sedaris
One book that made you cry: The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
One book you keep rereading: Living Out Loud by Keri Smith
One book you’ve been meaning to read: The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
One book you believe everyone should read: Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson
Finally,
Grab the nearest book. Open it to page 56. Find the fifth sentence…
“However, when one steals, he must steal brilliantly.” from Famous Writers School by Steven Carter
The Dalai Lama is so cool! And I love that you made up a Norton Anthology. 😀 I haven’t read Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (yet), but I adore the movie. This might have something to do with how much I like Amy Adams-I totally have a girl crush on her. 😉
This is a fun meme. I may have ot give it a try one of these days. I love your answer to the book you’d want on a deserted island. 🙂
I haven’t read Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day either. I flicked through it once at the library and it didn’t grab me. I always think books have to be read at the right time. I’ve never found the right time for that book..
I have the Dalai Lama one waiting for me, must read that soon… Great meme, off to do it now! 🙂
I like this meme! Will do it soon. 🙂
I really must read Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day! I see such wonderful reviews.
This was fun. Maybe I’ll blog it, too.
Very cool list!
I’ll really have to read The Handmaid’s Tale, I think!
That’s a fun meme!
I liked reading your answers. I need to read The Book Thief soon! 😉
Eva – I loved the movie and Amy is so perfect in that role. Read the book – I bet you’ll like it too!
Literary Feline – I figure I’d finally get to those classics of literature! haha….
Michelle – I agree, I’m a moody reader so I have to be in the right mood for a mood. I say give it a try again and hopefully it’ll grab you the second time!
Joanna – I just found it very helpful when I was going through a really hard time in my life. Helped me put some things in perspective and all!
Josette – Have fun. I’ll have to check it out 🙂
jenclair – I just hope you won’t be disappointed. You know how it goes after you hear so much about one book then sometimes it’s a bit of a letdown. This is really cute though.
nik – hope you get to it. I’d love to see your answers!
Tiffany – I like them 🙂
Dorothy W. – Ooh, and to read it after Sexing the Cherry would be something! ha. Actually, I’d probably wait a while 🙂
Melody – You will love the book. Really. And, to think that I may not have read that book before book blogging because it’s shelved under YA!
Don Quixote is a book that I would like to read this year. Haruki Murakami is an author I have yet to read. The Handmaid Tale is probably one of the most frightening book I’ve ever read.
I think I’m gonna steal this one from you! 🙂
Matt – Well, I have gotten through the first part of DQ which was quite fun. It’s just that it kind of meandered a bit too much for my taste and then I lost my willpower with it. One of these days though I may finish it 🙂 You must try Murakami – oh my, he’s so good. Steal away, I wanna read your answers 🙂
The Book Thief made me cry, too. I enjoyed reading your list!
