Once upon a time there was a Bookgirl who had a lot of energy. Right now, I’m still looking for her but slowly but surely she’s getting better and hopefully will be back to blogging with more frequency and visiting with blog friends soon. In the meantime, let’s talk about Carl V.’s great reading challenge!
I love the Once Upon A Time Challenge and have participated each year. I can’t remember if I’ve ever completed it but thanks to this challenge I discovered a new genre of books I used to not read. So of course I’m participating again but this time I’m going to take the first option which is The Journey. I like that I don’t have to commit to a set number of books.
That said, I’ve skimmed my shelves to see what could fit in this challenge and I’ve found a few books which would be perfect. I love making book lists so here is my list of potential reads. Let me know what you think of my choices and if there’s one I should pick up first!
Oh and I just got some coupons for Half Price Books so I think I need to go visit soon and who knows, I may find other books to add to my list of potentials. Anyway, off to finish up a mystery set in Iceland.
I’m glad you are feeling better, Iliana! Have fun with the challenge and happy reading!
Ah I can relate to the lack of energy. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better and I hope you’re back to 100% soon.
Good luck with this challenge!
Keep getting better!
I don’t know about this challenge so I’ll go check it out ð
I’m glad you’re feeling better. I enjoyed The Stolen Child though the near-end left me wanting more. Happy reading.
I’ve missed you and hope you are well again soon. The Penelopiad is fantastic – and short!
Hey there, I just stopped by to say hi. Sandy at You’ve Gotta Read This mentioned your blog and I just wanted to check it out. It’s really nice and I will come back soon. Take care!
I’m doing this challenge too and am planning on reading Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber, the real fairy tales. Do I sound like 60 Minutes yet? I’m really excited about it.
I haven’t signed up for this challenge, but I’m looking forward to everyone’s reviews.
I hope you’ll consider my National Poetry Month blog tour in April; here’s the info: http://www.savvyverseandwit.com/2010/03/call-for-bloggers-to-celebrate-national.html
I’ve signed up, but still not sure what I’ll read.
Keep on with that recovery!
Ooh! Ooh! The Stolen Child needs to shoot to the tippy-top of the list. But that’s just my total love and gushing enthusiasm for the book talkin’. I need to get off my butt and join this challenge. I love it!
Oooh – the last boon on your list sounds particularly fascinating. I don’t know much about Icelandic folklore, but I have the feeling I’d love it. Looking forward to your reviews!
I like the sound of the Icelandic one. I have a book out of the library at the moment, called The Tricking of Freya which is based on Icelandic myths, so your book might be a nice one to accompany it.
I do hope you feel better soon. Big hugs for a poorly girl.
I’m glad you’re recovering; sorry it’s going so slowly. Hope you’ll be back to 100%, soon. I was hoping to participate in this challenge, but I can’t seem to find myself coming or going, so I guess I won’t add to the problem by joining another challenge. All of your titles sound interesting.
I’m joining in this challenge for the first time this year – it will quite literally be a challenge for me as these are not usually the types of books that I read but I am willing to give it a go! I’m thinking of adding The Penelopiad to my list too.
Iliana, you have been on my mind girlfriend. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for full and quick recovery. (Yes I was bragging about your notebook-making abilities to Andreea!) I’ve not read any of your books up for consideration so I can’t help you with that decision. Hang in there!!!!!
I’m so happy you’re on the road to recovering. Carls challenge is the perfect thing to perk you up, once you have the energy to read, because of all those lovely fantasy stories and pretty images.
Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for the wishes. I’m doing well and just taking care of myself so I can get back to 100% soon ð So excited to see several of you joining in the challenge and some of you for the first time! I still haven’t chosen which book I’ll start with first but I’ll keep you posted of course ð Love you guys & miss you!
Glad you are feeling better and are back to blogging again! I missed your blog while you were gone! I know a lot of people are excited about Carl’s challenge. I hope you have fun reading all of your books. I have sworn off challenges or would seriously consider this one myself!
I am not in the challenge.
I am not really sick, but I don’t feel like blogging too much.
I am two reviews behind and really haven’t read anything for 3 days.
Glad to know that you feel a bit better.
Carl’s challenge will surely cheer and revitalise you ð
The Penelopiad is a beautifully haunting re-telling – I hope that you enjoy it!
The book of Icelandic folklore and fairy tales sounds wonderful; I read an Icelandic novella, The Blue Fox by Sjón, for the challenge last year and highly recommend it.
This does sound like a great challenge and I know you have talked about it before. I finally read “Never Let Me Go” which I think might fit well with this challenge.
I love all of your choices – each of them sound really interesting.
I am glad that you are feeling better each day. Sending an email your way today….
Caring thoughts coming your way for your recovery. Take Care. I’m glad a few of my blogging friends are doing Carl’s challenge – I dont have time for it, but so far I’m enjoying the reviews. I’ll pop in again soon to see how you’re doing.
