A new month and a batch of new releases. These books are hitting the bookstores this month and thanks to Netgalley and the publishers, I have some review copies to tell you about.
Adelaide by Genevieve Wheeler. A story which explores grief and mental health while capturing the timeless nature of what it’s like to be young and in love—with your friends, with your city, and with a person who cannot, will not, love you back. On sale 4/18/2023.
Breakwater by Marijke Schermer; translated by Liz Waters. Emilia has it all: a rewarding career as a statistician, a wonderful husband, two healthy young sons, and a house in the countryside. But when a brief moment of panic triggers the memory of a traumatic experience from twelve years before, Emilia finds herself floating away from her average existence. On sale 4/4/2023.
The Only Daughter by A.B. Yehoshua; translated by Stuart Schoffman. Rachele Luzzato is twelve years old when she learns her father is gravely ill. While her family plans for her upcoming Bat-Mitzvah, Rachele finds herself cast as the Madonna in her school’s Christmas play. Caught between spiritual poles, struggling to cope with her father’s mortality, Rachele feels as if the threads of her everyday life are unravelling. On sale 4/11/2023.
The Last Heir to the Blackwood Library by Hester Fox. In post–World War I England, a young woman inherits a mysterious library and must untangle its powerful secrets… I think this is all I need to hear about this book to make me want to read it. On sale 4/4/2023.
Dirty Laundry by Disha Bose. Ciara Dunphy has it all—a loving husband, well-behaved children, and a beautiful home. Her circle of friends in their small Irish village go to her for tips about mothering, style, and influencer success—a picture-perfect life is easy money on Instagram. But behind the filters, reality is less polished. On sale 4/4/2023.
The Gifts by Liz Hyder. October 1840. A young woman staggers alone through a forest in the English countryside as a huge pair of impossible wings rip themselves from her shoulders. While in London, rumors of a “fallen angel” cause a frenzy across the city. On sale 4/25/2023.
These are all new to me authors so I’m excited to discover these books. Have you heard of any of these? Let me know which one sounds most interesting to you. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I’m with you on The Last Heir to the Blackwood Library. Just the words “mysterious library” makes me want to read that one. 😀
I don’t these books or authors by Breakwater and Dirty Laundry sound good to me. Enjoy. And Happy April.
Lark – I know right? When I saw that I didn’t even bother reading the rest of the description. Hopefully it’s good! 🙂
Susan – They do sound good right. I believe Dirty Laundry is a debut novel so I’m hoping it delivers. Hope you have a great reading month!
These ALL sound good! I haven’t read anything by any of the authors, either. Will keep my eye out for them at the library. Thanks, Iliana!
Lesley – These are all new to me authors too! I love discovering new authors to follow. Hope you get a chance to check some of these out. I’ve been hearing a lot about several and really want to start one but still trying to get through a few others first.
