Well, it’s time to wrap up another month. May was a good reading month for me. I read four books and am carrying over three from last month.
My top read from May was The Dinner by Herman Koch. I still need to do a little write up on that but I can tell you that this will probably make it to my best books of the year list. I just found it fascinating. The other books I read were Murder on Amsterdam Avenue by Victoria Thompson, The Stranger by Harlan Coben and Evil Games by Angela Marsons.
With respect to my challenges, well, no progress but you never know what this month will bring.
What I can tell you is that this month has brought new books already. I’ve broken my library ban because I got notice that A Dangerous Place by Jacqueline Winspear was ready for pick up and I couldn’t resist. I think I was on my library ban for two months and sadly I didn’t make much of a dent in my bookshelves.
Of course I wasn’t going to go to the library and walk away with one book so I picked up Come to Harm by Catriona McPherson, The Dismantling by Brian DeLeeuw and The Unknown Bridesmaid by Margaret Forster.
Now I’m off to spend some time with Maisie Dobbs. I’ve already read two chapters and I’m a bit shocked. I hadn’t read too many reviews so I did not know what was in store for Maisie in this latest installment.
So tell me what you are looking forward to in June? Any big reading plans this summer?
I’m trying to read books in my stash. Making some dents.
I know what you mean about how Maisie’s life has changed considerably than previous books!! I had a much better reading month last month than I have had in a long time, so I was happy even though I won’t admit how many books I carried over to this month! Needless to say I will not be lacking in reading material. I have heard many good things about The Dinner–must pick it up sometime!
I’ve heard good things about The Dinner. I still haven’t decided if I want to read it though. I went a little crazy on NetGalley this past week and found several book I just HAVE to read. I hope to get to them this summer and fall. I really wish I read faster. Or at least had more time to read . . .
Heh, even though I have been limiting my library borrowing it seems I’ve not made a dent in my bookshelves either. I just can’t figure it out!
