Technically I started this book towards the end of last week but it’s the only one I’ve been focusing on this weekend. What am I talking about? Journey To Munich by Jacqueline Winspear.
I’ve been a fan of the Maisie Dobbs series for years and have enjoyed all books. Although mysteries I find that these are much more about the character, the setting and the time period. The last installment was a bit of a disappointment to me because I felt like I had missed on some major turning points in Maisie’s life because the story takes place after major events have happened but still I’m here for this latest adventure.
Maisie has now been recruited to help the British Secret Service to bring back a bookseller from a Nazi prison. She has to go undercover and of course it’s a very scary situation. I’m about half way through the book and I’m really enjoying this one.
So that’s what I’ve been up to this weekend. I did go to the bookstore yesterday but unfortunately didn’t make it to one of our Indie stores. I got a morning bike ride in and now countdown to vacation has started, which is what I’m most excited about!
Hope you all had a great weekend and let me know what new book you’ve started.
I stopped listening to the Masie Dobb’s books several installments ago, but everyone’s been talking about this new one, so maybe I’ll give it a try.
Where is your vacation taking you? I’ll be quite jealous if it’s Germany! 🙂
A book related Maisie Dobbs! What fun! Hooray for impending vacations!
Les in NE – I was so upset about the last book I read because of a “big” development in the series that seemed to be glossed over but I guess I got over it. Ha. Hope you’ll give Maisie another try. And, yep, going back to Germany! I’m so excited.
Stefanie – I know right? I have to say even the mystery in this one is appealing to me much more. Oh and yes, I’m in serious countdown mode to vacation 🙂
Ok, I’m jealous but also very happy for you! I would love to go back to some of the villages I visited in Germany last fall. Seems like a lifetime ago! I hope you’ll share a lot of photos when you return.
