As I was running errands this weekend I finally visited Recycled Reads, Austin’s Public Library bookstore. To my surprise it was much bigger than I expected. I didn’t have a lot of time before I had to be somewhere else so I couldn’t really sift through the shelves but I did find a Europa book, Sorry by Gail Jones and Mary Modern by Camille DeAngelis. I’ll have to go back another time.
I’ve been trying to catch up a bit on my blog reading this weekend. Goodness, how easy it is to get behind isn’t it? The good thing is that I’ve been able to enjoy some extra time with my current reads. For some reason this year, my reading just feels really slow.
Anyway, I have been on a bit of a library ban as well as I want to read more from my stacks but I got a note that one of my holds had come in finally and you know how that goes. So I picked up A Lesson In Secrets by Jacqueline Winspear (yay, Maisie Dobbs!) and ended up adding a couple of more books to my bag.
I checked out The Raising by Laura Kasischke for it’s premise, a beautiful and popular young woman dies but then rumor has it she’s back. Spooky. Enough About Love by Herve Le Tellier which is a story of course about love and wives and husbands and lovers. My other book is Sacrifice by S.J. Bolton which sounds like it’ll be a great thriller.
It’s still a bit early and the weather has been so nice today so I’m off to enjoy a bike ride. Hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend and stop in tomorrow for a giveaway!
Iliana, we should meet up at Recycled Reads some time. They have some good things usually. I did some of my library hours there when I was working at APL. Enjoy your bike ride. It is pretty today isn’t it?
I haven’t been to the library for a while… I figured I need to read from my TBR piles (which keeps on piling) and a few review copies that were sent my way.
Hope you have a great week ahead, Iliana! 🙂
A Europa at a used bookstore – score!
Glad you were able to enjoy a bike ride today … rain here …
Kay – I’d love to do that! I just sent you a little email by the way to give you some info about my mystery book group. Hope you can make it one day!
Melody – I totally understand. I try to stay away from the library but usually fail as my mom loves to check out DVDs and I take her so it’s inevitable that I don’t check out the stacks. Hope you have a great week too!
Dawn – She Is Too Fond of Books – I know right? What a find. I hadn’t heard of this one and as usual with their books, looks like it’ll be a good one!
Ooooh! Great finds at the library book store. I didn’t have so much luck with Sorry, but I would like to revist Mary Modern.
Love the name of that bookstore! I look forward to when you go back and have time to browse. I’m sure you’ll find all kinds of fun stuff.
The Raising sounds good!
Very cool that you have a place like recycled reads! Wahoo!
I know what you mean about the library vs. the stacks. I never do “library loot” posts because I’ll read one or two library books and then the stacks start to glare at me, I swear. I usually take my remaining books back before the TBR gets angry and attacks.
I wish my library had something like that–they have a shelf of books but the pickings are pretty slim! I’ve looked at Sorry before and have it on my wishlist still. I’m always behind in blog reading, so I can relate–there is never enough time, and my reading has been slow, too, though I seem to compensate by starting too many books in the hope I will read them. I enjoyed Sacrifice by the way and am reading her new book.
