You know instead of talking about all the books that have arrived, I should be reading. Maybe then I’d make a dent in the piles. Ha. But who can resist talking about new books right?
All of these books arrived at Casa Bookgirl recently. Let me know if you’ve read any of these already and can recommend them.
- City of Tranquil Light by Bo Caldwell. A story about a marriage set in revolutionary China.
- Crisp by R.W. Gray. NeWest Press is a new imprint for me and I’m very excited about this one.
- Dewey’s Nine Lives by Vicki Myron. I’m not a big fan of books featuring animals but I keep hearing such great reviews about Dewey so I couldn’t resist this one. Natalie & Stephanie recently posted reviews and a Q&A so check that out.
- A Friend of the Family by Lauren Grodstein. A story about a father’s fall from grace as he struggles to save his family, reputation and himself.
- Missing Lucile by Suzanne Berne. “Every family has a missing person, a ‘family ghost,’ someone who died young or disappeared.” Sounds intriguing doesn’t it?
- Writers Gone Wild: The Feuds, Frolics and Follies of Literature’s Great Adventurers, Drunkards, Lovers, Iconoclasts and Misanthropes. What a title but I want to know the scoop.
I have some others actually but it’s getting late and I’ve got to get back to my book. Nymeth and Stephanie just reviewed it and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Haven’t heard of any but Dewey, and I feel the same way about animal books.
Pleeeease let me know how the last one is. I am tempted beyond measure to order it as it sounds really great.
So glad I got to meet you this weekend, by the way. I hope the rest of the weekend was great for you.
I liked Dewey, but the slightly disturbing thing (at least to me) is now there are about four different versions of Dewey. Picture book, middle grade reader, the original, and then something else that I’ve seen reviewed lately. It is a precious story, but I don’t like this milking that is going on.
I haven’t heard of any of the mentioned books, but I will check them out. I am always looking for new books to add to my list:) Happy reading to you.
I didn’t know Stefanie had reviewed it too – going to have to jump over there now. I haven’t read any of those books, but I have the first Dewey book which I’m putting off until I’m less likely to cry at the end (not sure when that will be).
Writers Gone Wild does sound like fun.
Jenn – It was great meeting you at the festival too! Wish we could have chatted more. I saw that you posted pics but my computer is being slow so I need to visit again later and check them out 🙂 I’ll keep you posted on the book!
Sandy – Oh really? I had no idea there were other Dewey books coming out. I agree that is a bit off-putting. I’ll have to see what I think of this one.
Andreea – I’m always adding books to the list too – it’s ever growing!
Jodie – I’ve heard that you must have Kleenex on hand for the Dewey book. That sort of makes me put it off as well but again, everyone just loves it so I need to know what I’m missing out on!
Care – Doesn’t it sound crazy fun? I can’t wait to see what details they spill 🙂
Just the title “Wriers gone wild” make sme laugh. 🙂
Oh, yes, Writers Gone Wild sounds great!
I loved the Dewey book. It was fabulous. It did make me cry.
A Friend of the family was very good. Enjoy your new books.
Stefanie – It’s great isn’t it? I’ve only read one sort of scandalous anecdote in the book because I couldn’t resist but I hope the rest is good too.
jenclair – Hee,hee… I need to share some of this with you guys!
vivienne – Oh that is what I’m afraid of! I’ll just have the tissues handy 🙂
diane – It looks like it is going to be a great emotional, family type drama. I love that sort of thing!
I’m so looking forward to hearing what you make of The Little Stranger!
I loved Bo Caldwell’s first book and am contemplating readign this one. I’m not sure about the subject, but her writing is so good, I may have to give it a try.
Nymeth – I feel like I’ve not gotten any further in the book. I need another vacation to get through more books! ha.
Danielle – Yay, so glad to hear that. I am really looking forward to this one. Granted, need time but you know how that goes!
I read the first Dewey book and didn’t think it was that great. Books about animals can be okay if they aren’t overly sentimental, which this one was. But I don’t know — you may feel differently!
